Nice kings. Reminds me of the average size jigging back in the 70's. Googlefush caught some around that size off Sydney Heads the other day. Everyone reckons they are getting thicker. Are the 'hey days' coming back biggrin.gif

Kings are getting bigger and bigger. Yep we jigged up a few today, also got one around 75cm on SP's on 10lb string. Nothing undersize and biggest was about 80cm, which is quite small as there are plenty of 80-90cm+ fish running around. One bloke got a 15kg king in the area we were fishing a few days ago hence I was using 55lb jigging gear. I was targeting the big fish, not <80cm fish.

Average size is definitely above 70cm. A lot of kings in the shops are also from the farms in SA which is taking a bit of pressure off local stocks.

Im guessing you just go off the heads and look for bait schools or kings feeding on the sounder catch ? Or were you fishing some reef or wreck or something ?

It's at a place called The Colours. It's a reef/wreck off south head in about 30m. Find bait schools and jig for the first hour or two of light. It gets very crowded though, be prepared to fish next to boats so close you could cast over them. But as long as everyone behaves and does the right thing it's all good, which fortunately was the case on Saturday.
