Wall to wall Yellowfin & Marlin and Jumpy's stuck without a gearbox.
I'm betting his mate at SeaSea is taking his earplugs to work today. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

No it's not a counter port counters are rare
To be honest i really dont think having counter rotaters make a great deal of difference but now cause of that leaning BC thread i'll be pating more attention to see if there is indeed a diffence. That's if i even put that spare gearbox on weather looks crappy & just about to take off to start pulling my box apart chris is busy dismantling his mercruisers so i'll have to get my hands dirty -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

What with the weather you're better off just fixing it up I think Jumpy.
Lucky it's not the counter there could be some hard to get little parts in them. Should give the other one an oil change too, make sure there's no water in it. I was over that way last week so I took the opportunity and peed on both your motors so they're probably just dissolving. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Dont worry about Fed
Had tto stop by & sort him out, turns out Seafairy hasn't Fed the Goose 4 some time & he talks funny QUOTE Do you mean that boats generally dont have the counter on the Port side Yep You have to order a counter rotator in order to have them & they cost more Pulled box apart today & was just as i feared, no oil whatsoever just salt water lubing the gears Pinion was shot & now need an entire gear set, being a counter rotating box had to get the blow torch onto gearbox case to extract the gears unlike a standard box they dont come out individually Bit hard to see wear from pics

What's up with ya, just weld some teeth back onto the pinion & clean up forward & reverse with a file.
Then a good spray with Mr Sheen and it will be just like a new one. It doesn't look as bad as I expected Jumpy but once that metal gets through it...., looks like Merc. This post has been edited by Fed: Feb 6 2012, 10:49 PM -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |
