For my first post I need to pick your brains.
Having owned a 2006 seafarer vagabond since new and only running up 110 hours use, the time has come to make full use of it. Decided to update the existing black and white lowrance sounder and thru hull transducer. After researching and reading all the positve comments on Lowrance sounders, I bit the bullet and purchased a Furuno 585 and 1kw 20 degree transducer. The transducer is on back order but I am not sure if it is the correct unit. The existing ducer is Airmar PN:31-392-1-1 Rev.01 fitted from factory. I want to fit the new unit in existing position but it seems to be 10 degrees?

My question, what is the ideal degree transducer i should mount in current position? I was reccomended 20 degree but boat was not viewed by that person so a mistake is understandable.
Also what is the best way to remove existing transducer? I gave it ago but thought i would ask first before i grabbed the hammer.
Thanks in advance for any info

Position or boat makes no difference the degree stated in referance to transvestites refers to it's cone range
A 10 deg will have a tighter ass beam than a 20 deg, if sounding shallow water the 20 deg would be the better option cause it's spreading the beam, but once ewe start sounding deep deep water ewe're better off with the 10 deg more consentrated & the depth will spead the beam over it's distance unless of course you're sounding baitballs up nearer to the surface.

No need for a hemma just undo the nut you'll find silicon or urathane under trany's nob just have to get a blade in between it & hull to break the seal after which it should drop out

^ Goose ^ (Not you Bees)

Welcome Kefalite, let's see some boat pictures I'm having boat envy at the moment.

Is the old one mounted on the little chine it looks to be about zero degrees to me, if that's the case I think you should be looking for a 'straight' transducer. (0 degrees)
Have they poured some resin inside to level it up to the outside chine?
I bet that wasn't done in the Seafarer factory.
I wouldn't trust the original transducer as being correct or the 'new' recommended one either.
I couldn't find Airmar PN:31-392-1-1 Rev.01 on the Airmar website did you find it?
