Decided to make a bracket that flexes with any movement of the trailer yet holds the motor up high enough that it doesn't scrape the ground, I have had a couple that had shock absorbers in them, but came up with the idea to copy a pogo stick.
Suitable for small motors,, for larger then about 40 hp you would want heavier materials.

Pretty simple just a stainless tube sliding in another stainless tube with a spring in between to give absorbtion. later on will modify belt with soft rubber or something to stop the bracket scratching the motor.

Fed. Think you're taking the piss, but in case you're not.
These small outboards, under about 70 HP have a pathetic tilt catch on them and when towing with the motor either on shallow drive or full tilt, when you hit a bump or slightest curvature on the road the motor bounces, and often the tilt mech falls out of line with sad results. when tilt brackets supplied by engine manufacturers is engaged and relied upon there is often pretty sad results.
Most shop made engine supports are rigid and any movement or twisting of the trailer will have some minor effect on the motor which is fastened solidly to the trailer frame, and in a worse case scenerio damage to either the G clamp of the motor OR the transom can accur.

Let me have some fun Nimrod.
It's sad if an outboard manufacturer can't make a reliable tilt mechanism, I'd take it back no matter how old it was and demand they fix it. Different if it was worn out.

Fed. Each one has to be made to suit the trailer, some trailers need 2 arms coming from either side which joins to a y junction where the spring /shock would be located.
Get him to PM me if he is interested, or send email fastrailers@optusnet.com.au with photos of the rear of his trailer, and I will see what I can do for him.
