Been ages since i been out for decent hunt, weddings, honeymoon and buying a house down south coast (Sanctuary point) smile.gif Had a few hours to spare last night and a phone call from a cocky telling me he had seen a mob of pigs and shot 6 of em was enough to get me keen for a quick run.. Dogs havnt been out in months and Ruby hasnt hunted since having pups but I geared up my gurls, ruby and xena and picked up a mate and his dog and headed out.. We entered the property from the wrong end and had the wind blowing from behind us but withing minutes spotted some dark shapes about 500m into the recently sown crop. We got the dogs off the ute and it didnt take ruby long to find a scent and xena and con followed, ruby hitting up the first sow of about 30kg and xena grabbing a slightly smaller one..

We moved into the next paddock where the dogs jumped and after some scrambling around on the crop, took off through some scrub where both ruby and xena grabbed a nice little cranky 40kg boar. Even let my little pup out "cash" who hasnt seen a pig yet and he didnt hold back just straight in a grabbed a hold.. not bad for a 4 month old!

Next paddock we again spotted some sows and slips off into the crop and the dogs jumped but took off the wrong way splitting up.. We went after ruby first as she headed into some thick scrub, there was no noise at first but once closed we found her lugged up hard to a very cranky 70kg+ boar.. after 5 mins of fuckin round in the scrub trying to get a good grip on him, he was dispatched and we headed off to find xena. She was 3km away by now in heavy scrub and starting to loose coms on the tracker!! After some hectic driving and searching we found her. She was worn out but ok.. The side of the ute was covered in claret and this is when we noticed ruby had a rip under her chin.

A quick run back to pick up the boar and get some quick pics before cutting the wheels off em for dog tucker we headed back into the pub for a well earned drink and to clean rubys cut up.. She is spending the day in the vets getting patched up again. hopefully get her back this arvo. Its nothing serious but i wanted to get her fixed properly..

All in all, a good way to get the dogs back into work.. 4 pigs in about 2hr's..

pic taken off phone so not the best quality..
