Bermi is firing.
First day was a bit quiet and we had to work hard for the fish we got.
4 mile reef didn't produce a bite so moved onto the brothers reef where we
picked up a couple of mourie wrass, then drifted off the reef and got onto a patch
of 40-45 cm Flathead, a couple of drifts seen us with 11 nice pan sized flats in the boat
and it didn't look like it getting any better so we headed in.
Day 2 we heard there were some better pickings up off Camel so went up there.
17 Flathead all around the same size give or take 5 or so cm and a 4 ft gummy shark.
At least we had a decent feed and back at the cleaning table the other boats had not
done as well as us, so we accepted it as a fair days fishing.
3rd day we went down south passed cuttagee and onto golan.
Driving down I seen the change in the water with that very welcome ripple forming on the surface
and water turning blue , I found a likely mark and dropped a speculater patternoster down
filled with fresh slimie and as it hit bottom the rod loaded up, the first decent reef fish for the trip.
The blue Morwong went about 2 1/2 kilo and went straight in the ice slurry.
It wasn't long and Roger was also on with a nice pan sized Snapper around the 1 1/2 kilo mark.
The current was running through and the fishing got back to what I have known for the area
and what keeps me coming back year after year to my favorite fishing hole.
3 on board we all had a ball and ended up with 5 good Snapper 7 Morwong 5 really large wrass
a couple of large blue jackets and heaps of unwanted throw backs, we done a drift or two on the way back
to the ramp and picked up a further 10 flathead, back to the ramp at 12 noon.
I had to leave the fish on the chew and come back home.
I will be heading down again next week some time and I hope the current is still there.

It's good to be on the water when you see the current arrive, came through like a freight train and the fish responded
immediatly, hope it still hangs around till next time I get down there.

Gotta make a mooring to sink to hold the arse end from swinging around, the guy next door might object if I tie up to his.
Just going to fill a tyre up with concrete with stainless 5/8 rod through the guts and a stainless d shackle and stainless wire up to a buoy.
Atop of the buoy I will have another stainless clip to slip the mooring rope through.

I'm trying to get back there, the yellowfin tauny is on this week end and there will be about 300 odd boats and crews all trying to use the ramp at once so I usually stay as a spectator for that and wait till all the tourists go back home, so I can use the ramp for myself.
I,ve made my mooring rig so now just have to get a couple of bouys and some rope and I can put the boat in it';s hole, well after I antifowl it.
Mate that hat might act as a umbrella and if the wind gets under it, it could hang you.
You might mention to Alex to look for a grey bearded old feller fooling around with an old 1/2 cab in the creek or look for a
Savage Lancer named NIMROD with etec on it's arse.

Jason. Yes it's good to have a bit of moderate success. I usually end up with getting a feed or two down there, the Flathead are a good savior sometimes.
