We are booked in a cabin 15Feb. Never been there myself. I'm looking forward to it. Any happy experiences lads?? I know we have to launch from the beach. Can't wait to get amongst it. -------------------- Don't hate me, cause you ain't me... :)

Are you sure you're staying in Currarong ?????????????????
Although I haven't been to Currarong for years I know the area pretty well Currarong is the aboriginal name translated it means place of the winds Get back & confirm you're staying in curarong itself & I'll give you some info it's the cabin bit that's got me a little confused unless they're added them to the caravan park. Well Jed if you are indeed staying @ Curarong you'll be limited as to when & how you'll fish.
If it's not to late I'd recomend your mate rebook @ Greenwell point, Culburra, Crookhaven heads etc. Prob with Curarong is that the ramp is in the creek @ you virtually have to walk your boat out now there was talk about building a new ramp but I was down there 12 months ago not in the town itself but drove the boat over from Greenwell Point & I didn't see any new breakwalls. In other words it's a bitch of a place in a Nor Easter. And as your mate told you the wind allways comes up by lunch time & you have to head back in where as if staying @ GP you have all the river system to fish & allways can find a place out of the wind. -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Thanks boys. There is a break wall there jumpus. But everything you are saying is what my oldmate is telling me. He will organise a tractor from his mate ect.
It looks a popular place for fishing. Your favourite Kings may end up on my plate that weekend Currarong.pdf ( 114.02K ) Number of downloads: 23 This post has been edited by Bees Knees: Jan 13 2008, 01:25 PM -------------------- Don't hate me, cause you ain't me... :)

If it all gets too hard you could tow the boat around to Orient Point or Crookhaven Heads for a days fishing.

Well if you're gonna be borrowing a tractor then you'll be launching off Abrahams Beach not the ramp in the creek.
QUOTE There is a break wall there jumpus Hope you're not refering to whats shown on the map out front of the creek as the breakwall becauce it's not a breakwall it's sumerged reef. QUOTE It looks a popular place for fishing Mate it's a great place I fished off the rocks down that way for many years only ever launched a boat there once, the joint would be alot more popular if had better ramp facilities There's quite a few very in close reefs which can fire have had some very memorable sessionson bream, samson fish snapper there I tend to visit them if a southerly blows up & it gets uncomfortable out on the Banks then use the cover of Beecroft Headland to get back to Crookhaven. QUOTE Your favourite Kings may end up on my plate that weekend You're another one of those Sick Puppies who likes Kung Fooey's Well prob the best place to fish for those annoying fooey's is on the Mud just short of the Banks about 4 miles out just drift the Mud other species you canget are Snapper , mowong but be warned there's no shortage of bloody big sweep. And those bloody big sweep are also a big nuisance on curarong bommy which lies about 1/2 a mile or so nth of beecroft & has to be one of my favourite in close reefs rises from 30 meters up to 10 meters, have caught everything from bream , snapper right up top end of food chain Marlins YFT there so it allways pays to have a live bait or 2 out the back when fishing the bottom. -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

QUOTE Jumpy.. Break wall or reef? It's all the same isn't it? Na mate the reef is submerged there & just off it's point is one of the places in the area you can get your live bait from slimmy's , yakka's the other spot is around the moorings off Abrahams Beach. -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
