Anyone eat them??
Threw a line in at dads new place and me and the little bro pulled in some of the slippery bugga's, a 2ft and a 3ft Monster.. Just wondering what to do with em.. At least they put up a bit of a fight which was fun... They strong buggas too, i picked the big bugger up and struggeled to stop him spinning in my hands. Ive also read since that eels will travel from the sea upstream, climbing wet dam walls and ground to get there, where they stay for 20 years before traveling back to the salt. |

Pretty sure kkw & Dave eat them in fact I'd bet my short & curleys that they do.
Used to fish for them down @ the golf couse when I was a kid, caught this rip snorta of a eel one day. Me & a mate carted it down to local Kentucky Fried Chicken store & asked the girl behind the counter if she wanted to buy it, thought the Colonel Sanders chappy might want to cover it in his 11 different herbs & spices -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Get your razor out for half of those short and curlys. Not sure about dave though. You are ending up with at least half a brazilian. |

Hey Chad, they are good eating if they come from fresh water, there's a few ways of cooking them, heres a couple::
Skin them and cut them into pieces about 4" long wrap them in foil put some bird wire or equivelant into a boiler about 3'' high put water in the boiler and sit the pieces of EEL in foil on top of the wire and steam them for about 45minutes. second recipe. Skin the EEL if they are thick, fillet them if not, Just split them in half, cut them into pieces about 4'' long and roll them in flour with mixed herbs mixed in, fry them in a pan as you would do with fish fillets. Enjoy them you will do it again they are good eating. -------------------- I WANNA GO: FISHIN WITH SUMO.

I have a camp oven cookbook that has the cleaning and cooking recipeies in it. It reccomends boiling meat in water for a min or 2 to tenderise and clean the meat and then shallow frying it like you have said sumo.

Yeah i've pulled one outta me mates dam at Scho'ies, miiiiiiles from any salt and any other water for that matter!!
We were working on the Vals when i commented that it'd be great if there was somthing in there. My mate suggested i go home and grab a rod, which i did. We grabbed a chunk of meat from the fridge, whacked it on and in about ten mins we were on! Apparently a greek dude used to fish it whenever it was about to be pumped dry, they say he'd sit there with his hessian sack and pull out about 20 then go and eat'em.It did spin me out wondering where they'd come from. This is the only other story i have on eels. I hooked up big time fishing just off the container wall, after a torrid battle i could tell it was an eel as it neared the boat.My mate said it was gonna do me,i said 'naaah mate i'm an eel expert'(get ya mind's otta the gutter). Anyways this thing went sick near the boat and it was a thumper too!! After a few more dives my old alvey rod went SNAPPO!!! That's when me mate said 'told ya it was gonna do ya cause that was a Parramatta eel' BTW Sumo i thought you were gonna say 'after ten mins take the eel out and eat the springs' This post has been edited by Smelly: Nov 12 2007, 06:24 AM -------------------- catch ya

I have tried smoking one, but I had to roll it in a sheet of newspaper and then I couldn't get the darn thing to light.

Ahh Eels.
Very interesting. I have to normally wait a little while before one of those comes round. I generally see this from a distance and mark out what I am after. It travels pass all those people and when it is with in reach. I grab it put it in front of me. It comes wrapped in seaweed and mounted on rice. Oh, did I not mention Japanese sushi train restaurant.
