Haven't fished for them a great deal in estuaries not since many moons ago up in the hawksburry up there very tidal it races in & out.

Here in Sydney all my Jewgong fishing has been virtually on offshore reefs top bottom of the tide it dosen't really matter but you need to be there @ the turn

Jewgong are a relatively lazy fish hiding in holes when the tide is running to quick thats one of the reasons they come out @ the turn but there's been days/nights they've been on the chew non stop irrellevant of the tide/current best ever done was 52 jewgong nothing under 5 kg

Baits vary from live to strip bait pilly's squid etc

Only have gotten into this SP thingy not that long ago with limited success one jew of around 4kg dropped @ boat again it's a new expirience for me these SP thingys but in time hopefully the stats will be in favour of the Jumpus one

This is the SP I caught my last flattie on. Should be o.k. for jew as well. Used 60kg leader, like Jumpy recommended. No bite offs for me.
(YES!!!! I am joking - not about the SP, but about the leader. It was really 70kgs laugh.gif)

When rigging any livie make sure that you pin them very lightly in the case of live squid just through the top and just under below the mantels "legs"s is best..

With a livie fish such as a mullet or slimey pin them just above the lateral line or if you prefer a 1 hook rig go for the nose rig.I always prefer 2 hooks in the 4/0 size range anything bigger and I reckon the jewies can feel them...

SORRY ABOUT MY POOR DRAWING SKILLS

I PREFER THE SQUID ON A FLOAT WITH 3 MTR LEADER TIED WITH DOUBLE UNI TO ALLOW WIND ON

AND LIVIES I PREFER 2 HOOK RIG ON A FLOAT AGAIN AROUND 3 MTRS UNDER A FLOAT
AGAIN SORRY ABOUT MY PICCY

Hope this helps I use it here in South Australia but have used it around Australia with great success.....
