Let's see how good you are at bragging and it cannot be game fishing.
My largest would be a Flathead about 10lb so I,m not a big fish , but that was when I was about 15year old so along time ago.
When I lived at Woy Woy
I,m not a great fishing person like most of you as I just don't get the time, I would be lucky to go fishing once a year but that's my life .
As for the largest catch well that would have been out of Walgett when I was still a youngster ,and the old man and a few friend always went once a year for a week,to farm for fishing and shooting , that year we came home with over 300lb each of Murray cod and other fresh water fish now they where the good old days smile.gif

Geez oz thats a hard Q we dont all fish the same & there's so many catergories not to mention species.

I fished ANSA & IGFA for many years I'll see if I can dig up some of those ANSA captures which got me my Masters some pretty impressive ones in there but not neccesarilly my biggest or best

My proudest fish is my PB bream of 42cm on an SX-40. Caught on 2lb line/4lb leader in an area that was fairly heavy in oyster covered rocks. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif Definately put up a good fight. biggrin.gif

Aha !

THOUGHT OF ONE THAT ISN'T A GAMEFUSH

Many moons ago when the sun went down I was out Jewgong fishing with a mate only had 4 live baits 1st 2 got nailed by squid 3rd went off to a fish & I thought this will be the smallest jewgong that I'd ever caught.

I kid you not it was not a jewgong but the biggest tailer I've yet to catch going around the 4 - 5 kg mark, with only one livey left I did a fillet'n'release on the tailer got 6 nice long strip baits just off one side, baits were around 20 cm's long so I changed hooks & tied on a 10/0 long shank Shannesy which suited the bait alot better.

Was fishing 80 lb handlines in springers so dont rate what was to follow a good capture merely a good fish, bait hit bottom hadn't even had time to clip line into springer when I felt the tugs thought my mate was jerking the line I turned around to have a go @ him & he was nowhere near it.

So into the boat came the 1st Jewgong of the night around 7 kg, bait still looked perfect no need to re bait so down it went again with the same deal happening I turned around to have a go @ my mate & he was nowhere near my line so into the boat came 2nd Jewgong a bit bigger than the 1st @ around 9 kg.

Bait still looked perfect no need to re bait so down it went again with the same deal happening I turned around to have a go @ my mate again just a spontanious reaction cause we're always mucking around & again he was nowhere near my line this time I had to call for the gloves as my hands were getting ripped, 20 minutes later we saw colour & it was the biggest bloody Jewgong I'd ever seen so in went the gaff.

Didn't have scales big enough to weigh it & there is a photo of it floating around just not in my poccesion but to give you an idea, I stand 5 ' 11" tall jewgongs tail touching ground it's nose was level with my eyes around 5' 5" in length did however measure the cutlets when I cut it up up near the head recall them being 2 1/2 " thick I'm talking about bone to bone till this day I reckon it went around the 40 kg mark but I haven't seen to many jew of that size to be more certain.

In WA I hooked and got a cod (if they are allowed) off the rocks it went about I don't know. Struth it was the size of a refrigerator and I got $4.50 kg I got alot of money Before you complain I know you were not supposed to do those things but 20 years ago I did not care about anyone or anything. It got me a lot of plonk and you know what in the 80's. But back on the east coast and a more civilised Dogmiester I guess my flathead a metre long and I reckon it would have gone close to 16-18lb. That was while fishing for the Silver ones. Don't want sound like a big head though just at the right spot at the right time.

Hey Arnie do you think oz will allow Rays ???

Remember those 2 ninkompoopies who used to drive up from Melbourne & live in the back of that Pantech, one of them was called Donny I think

They kept losing tackle to those Moving Bottoms so the next year they came prepared armed Vic Hislop style wire trace Damn Buoys etc & they still couldn't land one of those Moving Bottoms laugh.gif laugh.gif
