Pics Poly, I'v got a few early ones from last trip to yamba, was fishing for mangrove jacks in the creeck across the other side of the river and a good k and a bit downstream-was hard going coming home a couple of times against the outgoing tide and southerly wind. Sounder wise I'v only got a base model eagle-nice and compact, I'm mainly fishing in the fresh so it shows the bottom structure in the max 50ft water just fine for me. Transducer is mounted with cable ties to the bottom of my motor. GPS-yes I do use one to mark spots along the nepean and when I go away its helpful to mark the spots where bass are caught, its a garmin handheld-very compact, good battery life and very accurate. Engine mount-I made it myself from some old bits I had in my garage- a couple of satellite mount bits, a bit of wood and another sat mount bit as a brace. Yak is from BCF-called a angler-3m, cathederal hull, very stable-can stand and cast. Engine has been upgraded to minn kota-the one on there did the job fine but was lacking in power-ebay cheapie cost under $150 quoted @ 40lb-more like 20lb. Its all trial and error-when you're on the water fishing you soon work out what you use a lot and where is a good place to get your hands on it quickly-rods, paddle are the 2 biggies, net next then tackle, if you're going outside fishing a small sea anchor is a bit of kit a few fellas I know use, do a search on the net theres some great set-ups to pinch some ideas from. that's a great set up you have there the one thing i had not though about was a lecky outboard couple of questions mate what size battery are you using and how many hours do you get from it and is it used to power the sounder as well Paul

Battery powers the sounder and motor, its made by power crank-a calcium cell hybrid 540cca 11 plate-think around 65AH.
Heaviest use so far was at yamba running sounder for most of the 4hrs fishing and motor was running for at least 2 hours mainly at max speed-enging specs quoted at max speed are battery input required 12v 34amp, input power 408w-fed might be able to make sense of these figures as far as battery life goes-the sounder draws bugger all. When I got back to the wharf after that fishing trip the engine still showed 12.3v on the sounder. Some of the guys in my fishing club have their engines mounted on the back of their yaks-they have made up their own brackets out of alloy. -------------------- AAAAHhhhhhhh, I just wanna fish!!!!

Dropped in and checked out Poly's kayaks today. They look pretty good, but need a polish. New rod holders are cool. Pol didn't look himself though. Poor old fella had a bad case of swollen head.
Went in and had a coffee. He must have heard that I spilled a cuppa on Sav's lounge, so he had covered his lounge with fabric in case I did the same at his place. Probably had plastic under the covers as well. Pol went shopping today and little kids were looking at him and screaming, so possum made him wear this outfit. Looks good on him.

When I live closer to the salt JG.
41 is fair size frank, there are bigger around, average size is around 30, the fishladders have helped a lot not only opening things up for the bass but has improved access with less weed build up-water flow is more consistent instead of huge flows when its wet then barely anything for months. -------------------- AAAAHhhhhhhh, I just wanna fish!!!!

the sounder for the yak has at last arrived, now i know not all here will agree with the unit I have bough , its the Lowrance mark 5X DSI [down scan imaging ] will it be as good as a furuno LS4100 some how i don't think these can be compared as they are so different in the way work, newtec or oldtec time will tell
take a look at the video so you can see the difference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eiuWKvVDlo...feature=related

I like that scroll back and mark a waypoint feature Poly, I'd be happy with a sounder like that.
