You guessed it.
Went out this morning and had a quick session off the rocks in the Hacking. Wrong tide, wrong time of day but wanted to wet a line. Big swells were rolling through, so I had to stand on higher rocks, but managed to grab some cabbage off the rock and cast out. Float was only in the water for seconds and it got smashed downwards. First fish landed in the first minute. Got three fish in 12 minutes, and then it went quiet. Took another 90 minutes to get the next five. They were all nice pan size fish and very healthy. Pic taken on mobile phone.... sorry. This post has been edited by kkw: Feb 8 2011, 03:43 AM |

Wish I could get motivated to go fishing, takes me 1/2 hour to get the boat out of the yard and then best part of an hours drive in any direction to get to the water. Just don't be bothered these days and see not much point in me holding onto all my boats, so might be sellinng a few tubs shortly. Just bought myself a ride on mower, so now I will be able to drag the boat around the yard without blowing a puffer valve. It is on the weekends. They leave their crap all over the rocks and in the pools above high water. I pick up their rubbish at times and cart it off the rocks. There are bins at the start of the track by the beach. I am too scared to put my hands in the pools though. They are green, red, brown, milky from the stuff in there. Plastic bags of pillies and other bait, beer bottles, disposable nappies, food, etc. I phoned the rangers to come down on the week ends and have a look. Too busy. I told them that the reffos are chopping holes in the sandstone, to stand their rods up and they said "we will be right down". I was there on Monday, crap all over the place. Scored a bag of new sinkers though #2 ball sinkers. You can see why I only fish there during the week. The guy in the pic is Ray, a local old bloke. He and his mate are 'experts' and have been nigger fishing for 60 years. When I left on Monday with 8 fish and Ray had 3 and Harry had none, they banned me from returning for a month. They reckon I am just lucky. Got nothing to do with gear and bait selection, and technique

Went out this morning for a few hours. Water looked fishy but no-one told the fish. One lousy nigger caught. It went 40.5cm, so it was reasonable size.
Found the problem was a bunch of annoying Jumpus deVito's diving around the front of the ledge and scaring the fish. (penguins). Reckon JG set me up. Wouldn't have been surprised if his mates, the seals, turned up as well. Oh well, at least I have lunch for myself.
