Hey Fellas
After xmas i'm upgrading the cheap sounder on my boat to something abit more upmarket. I want a GPS/Sounder/Plotter Combo, and want to spend no more then $1500, infact that's pushing the friendship with the father, so if it's cheaper oversea's let us know. I also want a downrigger, for around $300, oversea's if possible as well. Thanks for any help. |

My depth sounder shows fish in 3 different sizes (very entertaining) but it doesn't show squid pictures so I think I need an upgrade too.

Jumpy uses a bigger screen because he's blind as a bat... He needs glasses to I.D. the difference between a Salmon and a Tailor these days... Bigger = more $$$ and you said you wanted to save some $$$, the one i got is affordable... -------------------- Don't hate me, cause you ain't me... :)

Jumpy uses a bigger screen because he's blind as a bat... He needs glasses to I.D. the difference between a Salmon and a Tailor these days... Nothing wrong with jumpus earsight, I only need goggles up close in bad light else my earsight is better than most. No probs ID'n Man Boobies up close esp if they belong to Pamella Bees cant miss that pair of Kahuna's esp with the TsiTsiKi rubbed into them As far as units go ?? Stuff like wot Bees has are toys for alot of reasons 1st bit of GooDarus advice I'll give ewe is dont buy a combo. When fushing in close or out wide I use my sounder & GPS to death & can see screens from anywhere on the boat OK they are big screens but size = only part of the equation. Biggest factor to look @ is screen definition how many colours units has etc etc. Yep I use Furuno & shake my head every time I see sum bloody irriot go on how his lowrance is exactly the same but 1/2 the price Wot a Load of BULLSHIT DanuSun your old man would strangle ewe if ewe suggested getting wot I use Not going to recomend any units cause your budget is not the same as mine but I will recomend not getting a combo go for 2 seperate units. Do research on GPS find unit that accepts a C Map card those Navtronics cards are way infirior C Map cards use proper Naval charts I do have a Navtronics Gold on Mini Me & it's no where as good pretty crappy actually -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I have a modest budget as well, ( would have Feruno ) if I had the dollars to outlay, but at the moment i run a Raymarine sounder and a navman GPS with Cmaps. The Navman are pretty basic without the extra Cmap, but once the map is added it is a magic unit, takes a but to get used to. My one has inbuilt antenna so you just have to have a quick release power cable and you can take it from boat to boat. I wouldn't want to go for anything under a 5 inch screen. I would like bigger but thats just wishful thinking. -------------------- Frank

may be able to help with the down rigger mate, some of the boys have bought through this mob in the states and tell me they very good to deal with.
also mate check out there sounder gps deals, just remember that the gps units will most likely be loaded with U.S. base maps http://www.jandhproducts.com/_e/dept/12-00...Downriggers.htm Paul if i may ad this, in this young mans case i don't think a large screen is needed, after all it is a smaller boat and you should be able to read a 5 or 6 inch from most parts of the craft -------------------- bugger it's sold, got meself a house instead

Spliting any size screen is a pain in the arse only time I ever split my 10" on the big goat is on the run home NOT when I'm fushing
And that is only to engage both Radar & GPS On wittle goat I could've easily gone with just wun unit as the A65 is a combo but I only use it as a GPS & run a seperate Furuno 620 as the sounder Prob with combo's besides losing out on screen size is there's to much fart arsing about with setting ewe have to switch over from either gps to sounder visa versa to adjust any of the settings no such prob with 2 units. Sum might think a non issue but when I look @ say Bees doing it on his I just You're either fishing or playing with toys & ewe cant ketch fish if playing with toys or man boobies -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Are you serious Jumpy?? You push one bloody button to go between 5 different screens... Its not hard.
The major drama is if one goes, they both go... I realise my combo pails on comparision, but the electronics on your big boat is worth more than my BMT... It made perfect sense for you to interchange between it and mini me. Daniel, you have a budget! Within that budget your saying you need both a sounder and GPS! If you can squeeze 2 units with the $$$ at your disposal then do it mate!!! I would of been castrated, spending $4.5k on them... She doesnt have a sense of humour sometimes.. P.S. You dont need your GPS whilst in the act of downrigging... You need a sounder -------------------- Don't hate me, cause you ain't me... :)

I can get the HDS 7 for $990 mate, that seems like the best price for the screen ans a good combo.
