Hi, A while ago there was a thread on this but I can't get the search to show it.
My cover after close to 3 years exposed to the elements is sort of dead. The vinyl/pvc coating has hardened and I can not stretch it enough anymore to put it on the snaps. I need a new cover. They are not very cheap (custom made ones) but are good for towing longer distance as they don't get caught in the wind. However 2-3 years is a bit short and someone told me that canvas has a longer live but is not waterproof. I got a quote for 450 bucks and was wondering if this is a fair price? What is your opinion on the canvas instead of pvc/vinyl covered cloth? I can get a cheap waterproof cover when parked longer term in front of the house Jack --------------------  |

Jack.
I had a Stearns marine canvas cover and it mildewed very badly underneath. Black patchy mildew inside and out was horrible. Also, not waterproof, but water resistant when new. I now have a "marine vinyl" storm cover. It also is dirty looking after a couple of years but that is from the elements. |

Have you tried leaving the cover out in the hot sun for a while Jack?

I'm pretty sure it lives in the hot sun. That's why it has gone hard and dried out. The cover, that is.

leaving it out in the sun did make it more stretchable and I was at least able to put it back on. but I don't like the live expectancy of these covcers. However I could get a new one and only stick it on while travelling and stick a tarp over the boat when parked in front of the house
