Hello fellow fishos,

Hit the harbour the other night for another successful jew bash with my brother.

The going was tuff, the session was looking grim and there was very little interest in the fresh bait we had on offer.

After three and a half hours of nothing the pickers came along with a few flathead, bream and whiting showing up.

All of a sudden we hear the beautiful sound of my line screaming and peeling off my reel- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

then bingo and high fives all round.
After a few runs and some great netting skills from my brother this 82 cm / 10.38 pound(4.7 kg) jewie was landed.
Fished another hour after the capture and we were both content to leave the waters happy once again.

not a bad report Baffo, it would seem that there are not a lot of big jew around, it is a lot of years sines i fished for them in a big way, but a fish in those days under 30 pound was just another small fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess the question i am asking, are the big 50+pounders still out there

Paul,

Can you give me some feed back on where the 30 pounders were landed mate.

Its not rocket science when it comes to catching the schoolies.

I would love to get amongnst the bigger models- I only fish for them atm -they are a great passion for me.

yes mate, it was on the Richmond river at Ballina, ok I am going back to the 70's and 80's now there were two main places I fished for them one was black rock it's on the northern end of Shelly beach, the other was in the river about a third of the way along the north wall were the tide formed an eddy and it was a killer spot. One of the things i have found over the years is that jew are a lazy fish so if you can find a spot just out of the tide that will be a likely place for them to sit waiting for a feel to drift by
now what bait are you using
