Botany Bloody Bay Options

Hey Guys..



Went to bed at bloody 10 pm last night ..

Surey enough i couldnt sleep and got up at 3;30 .. Righto get my gear Ready tested my knots and went on the net for a while ..

Ready to go we left for the ramp at 4;40



We were on the Bay and went straight to set out some crab traps.. EASY .. crab pots in the water done by 6;00



Straight for the kingies i was keen and first bait in the water was a whole squid in the current with no weight .. i didnt like how it was floating so i added a pea sized sinker and put the squid down.. Rod in the rod holder i grabbed my bream rod out and started having a go for them



15 - 20 mins later my uncle hooked up to a fairy big fish onhis bream setup .. 5 mins later busted him off .. Bugger ! Oh well .. Uncles goes to rig up again and than my rod with the squid goes off and i grab it and 5 mins later up comes a nice kingie ! Looks a good size.. On the measurer it goes .. 56cm .. YOU GOTTA BE JOKING! It seems bigger then the other rats i got but cleary not ..







As soon as i unhooked him my uncles rod goes off ! Righto a quick snap of the kingie and back in the water it went .. Back to my uncle.. the fish his fighting comes to the surface and jumps ??? wtf is what i was thinking kings dont do that and to our suprised a nice big 56cm Salmon pops his head up ! Righto theres one in the bag..



10 mins laters my big rod line goes slack ? hmm reel it in the the bloody squid was gone :(



That was the last of the baby squid so out goes a yakka and i put a little bit of squid from one of the big squid on my little bream rod and 10 mins later it gets hit and im on to a good fish ! Boy can these kings fight .. Up comes another one 55 cm .. WHAT THE ?? ive caught 4 kingies and they have all been around that size :(



Anyway a quick photo and his back in the drink to fight another day







Righto so than 20 mins later a bit quiet my uncle gets ontoa fish a nice 27cm Bream !



Here it is next to the Salmon .. Looks small next to the Salmon







After that we thought we would try the 3rd runway for notting but throw back Bream and Snapper



Than we tryed the Towra Dift with plastics i had a hit but no takers ..



So after that we motored off and got our traps !



We got 8 Blue Swimmers all Legal size !! how good is that













All in all a great day on the water a legal king would of been nice . next time maybe

There's been alot of kungs in the bay but most undersized

Western side of 3rd runway they've been taking poppers & SP's

nar mate its called staying up till 4 in the morning on the net and getting out of bed at 1

Well done Dan those crabs are making me hungry just looking at them.
Have you tried downrigging for the Kings that seems to be the way to go at the moment.
I've been thinking about giving it a whirl with a small bomb on the end of a heavy cord line, I think that would work OK.
