Seeing how JG is livebaiting for bream I thought I'd one-up him by doing it on lures. Bait is just too easy.
![]() All the fish have been taken on various plastics and blades. I'm starting to get the hang of those blades now, and turning infrequent flukes into consistent catches on them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- DANCE!

Bait is just too easy Bait is the only way to fush for brimski's dont look @ my pics of wuns & Tu's I only keep wot I'm going to eat on the day & let the rest go QUOTE no kingies though. Kings were there a few days ago but not where evlly bloody fushes for them Got it from a diver who's been commisioned to survey & count Bull Shark no's in the harbour & he saw massive schools of kungs around the meter mark @ spot X I dont like the habour & wont fish it Looks like I'm taking out the Jumpus GooDarus tommorro a couple of mates have been busting my ![]() Once they've caught their kungs it'll be snapper time I'll use their kungs as Live Bait ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I don't know whether you'd eat them from the Cooks and upper Parramatta River. I don't even like wading in there.
I use 6lb braid, no lighter because it knots up too easily. Leader wise I usually use 2-4lb. Sometimes I use 6lb but very very rarely over that as it frequently spooks off the larger and smarter bream. We knew where the kings were, and fished the right places. They were just too fussy for us and didn't like the look of our lures, big or small. This post has been edited by catchnrelease: Jan 1 2010, 02:20 AM -------------------- DANCE!

We knew where the kings were, and fished the right places. They were just too fussy for us and didn't like the look of our lures, big or small. They've got to be in a feeding frezy to take lures I've watched them for many moons now, even with live baits @ times it's more curiosity than dinner bells that exites them to take the bait But even when they're not feeding they'll nearly allyways take a live or dead bait if it's not trying to get away from them -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I'm sure there would have been at least a few kings mixed in amongst them, we just couldn't tempt them. Schools of bait busting up like that attract everything. We fished the plastics quite slowly, we did try just ripping them at high speed but had more success with a few flicks - pause - a few flicks - pause etc.... Having said that, I've caught plenty of kings using both slow and high speed retrieves. I also don't think they always have to be in a frenzy to take a lure. If a king is strolling by or just relaxing around a boat hull and comes across a well presented lure you're in for a shot. I've had that happen to me before many times. Being in a frenzy always helps though. I walked away from the session thinking the kings were just fussy, especially around the whitebait schools where the bait was only 2-3cm long. We downsized lures too, but I guess it wasn't good enough. -------------------- DANCE!

Your close up pics always look good Catch. That's because ewe like to see if the fishy's have a shinier head than ewe & the close ups give ewe a better indication ![]() ![]() QUOTE When you see schools of whitebait, slimies and pillies skipping across the surface you know you're in the right place Means absolutely Nut Ting And by no means an indicator that Kungs are in the area, I had wall to wall baitfush everywhere the other week & the sounder read no kungs And yes if ewe know wot you're looking for there's many species of fush ewe can ID using your sounder Kungs will move into esturies then move right back out again when that happens ewe have to look 4 them elsewhere outside that's wot I did on the day & hookups resulted -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
