Nothing like an early start to the day – alarm set for 4am. (Takes us a little time to wake up at that hour). Down to the boat ramp and in the water by 6:15 am. I’ll have to work on the delay between alarm and ‘on water’ time!

Can’t pack the Esky the night before because the beer will start to get warm and the sandwiches soggy!

Anyway down the river to the bay: dodging rowers that don’t have eyes in the back of their heads and insist on rowing either in the middle of the channel 3 abreast or crossing straight in front of you.

I am not good at explaining landmarks so FED took some pictures to show where we were. Pulled up due east of the Capt Cook Bridge, on the port marker side of the channel, in about 6 metres of water and almost opposite the 2nd starboard marker. Fished on the bottom of the tide.

While I was still organising bait etc FED already had a line in the water with a soft plastic lure. Within 2 mins he had caught the first “croc” – and I thought he had hooked the bottom or something!

FED’s flattie was 69cms and it’s a monster! With that sort of a feed we could have pulled up stakes and gone home but there’s no fun in that. That was when I was told that we could only keep one flattie each over 70cms.

So not to be outdone I cast my ‘flattie flucker’ and up came the 2nd ‘croc’ (BIGGER than the 1st @ 74cms.). We christened him ‘Mr Cranky’ because he bit a hole in FED’s new net.
I was at the stage of hoping we didn’t catch another monster or it would have to go back. We did a couple of drifts in this area and decided to search for other species before calling it a day so we headed over to a deep hole north of the last port marker near the wave buoy. Low and behold FED pulled up another large flattie but this time not quite a ‘croc’.

After drifting around for about an hour or so we decided that it was going to be rather warm later so we motored back up the Georges and were back at the ramp just after 11 am and in the pool to cool off by 12:15pm.
We hit 1000nm on this boat as we pulled up at the ramp.
Great day!

Yeah mate she does pretty good for someone who can't tie her own knots.
It was so funny, she forgot how to tie a knot and I was watching her tie her hook on then pull it tight only to see it undo right before her eyes.
Then there was the Kamakazi Kingy (55 Cm) that took her all over the back of the boat from one side to the other and back again, I never stop laughing whenever we go fishing.
On the way down the river she's heading on the wrong side of a port marker pole....
I said, "Red pole", she said, "Yes", I said, "Red pole", she said, "Yes" I said, "Red pole", she said, "Yes, I know it's a bloody red pole..... Oh shit!" and then the boat finally swerved around the correct side.
Always a good laugh.

Loving my new baitrunner Jumpy except I keep flipping the flipping lever the wrong way.

KK - How is it that you call me Fedette???? Huh? Who told you my secret name?
The Fed always makes fun of me! It has been years since I caught a Kingy and forgot how they like to 'run for it!'
Fed is only hysterical.gif because he has seen me catch 'em twice as big!

Well done on the fishing lads.

Yeah you do have to work on the timing a little, awake at 04:00 and not in the water until 06:15. Sounds like you came in from the country side. smile1.gif

The flattie flucker accounted for the biggest fish, a long skinny white lure got the next one down and the smallest one took a squid bait.

I need a couple of cups of strong red hot black coffee and a few smokes before I can get moving of a morning Christos.

Twit Top ewe're brurry hopeless hysterical.gif

No good asking Fed wot lure he used cause he's only got 2 SP's in his tackle collection , that wun & it's twin bluddy hysterical.gif

Lures only play a very very small part in catching fish & dont listen 2 all the Bullashitta peeps post that this lure produces more etc etc those people are full of crap

Most important thing is to know where to go looking for the fush
2nd is your retrieval action of the lure

SP itself plays very little when chasing flat wuns as they are an ambush predator BUT if ewe find a good pocket of the flat wuns then colour of plastic will play a role
