Have a great time Frank. Good luck on the barra. When I was up in Qld last year, I landed one impound barra at Proserpine dam, but much more in the rivers. Caught none on hard bodies - all on plastics (black and gold squidgies were the best).

Frank. Are you 'home' yet? How did it all go? You can tell us all about it at the Christmas get together. Is there going to be one?

Got back yesterday. Not a lot to report. Spent 8 days at Awoonga, 4 days at Moduran, 4 days at Harvey bay
and a couple of days travelling in between.
First day at Awoonga we spent exploring and trying out a few tactics, casting plastics, hard bodies, spinner baits etc
with only one touch, must have had a thousand or more casts.
My mate with me hooked up to a screamer which took plenty of line and finally found his freedom.
I managed to get one Catfish.
Day 2 saw a few faster boats launch before us and my mate don't like to be left behind, so was flat out
trying to catch up with them with a 20 knott wind blowing and a chop on the water that the little 4.0 metre
v nose punt didnt really like. I was sitting up front facing backwards and my bum left the seat and came crashing down
and !!!!! there goes the back,, that put a real damper on the rest of the trip for me.
2 days sitting in the cabin watching everyone else go out and catching some fish.
When my back felt a bit better all I could do was sit in the boat while I had a line out trolling, trolling
is not my prefered method when in timber covered fresh water lakes, but couldn't stand long enough to get
more then a couple of casts into the structures, and the electric motor was playing up so could not hold position.
Spent most of the time in the cabin.
Went to moduren and trolled around for another 4 days without any luck for me.
What a great place moduren is, and if I had my own boat with reliable electric motor etc, I'm sure I would
have done OK, but as it was with sitting in a boat just trolling around in deep water was not what was needed.
Spent a couple of days at Hervey Bay watching the wind trying to uproot the banana trees so decided to pull
the plug and come on home.
I did manage to smash my ABU low profile baitcaster while in Awoonga and had to visit the tackle shop
for a new reel, got a Daiwa Saltise HRF which I don't like as much as the ABU, will buy new side plate and magnetic
balance for the ABU as it's too good a reel to not fix it.
Bit of a story behind the breakage that will explain if anyone interested.

Paul. The Revo inshore is my favorite weopen for casting the larger plastics and lures.
I was night fishing and on one of many casts I thought I felt a loop in the spool as the line went out against my thumb. I set the reel into gear and sat down and was slowly pulling line from the spool to feel the loop in the line, meantime the lure ( a hard body ) was still in the water and just floating.
I didn't have a real good grip on the rod ( just enough to hold it while I drew line out from the medium set drag ) .
Without warning the next thing I knew was the rod was dragged from my grip with great force and smashed against the boats gunwail on it's way to the water. I sat there for a moment or two ( stunned ) and said to my mate, !! What the !!!!!! and something made me put my hand in the water and as luck would have it I felt my rod butt and grabbed it and bought it in ( cork grips have the advantage of floating ). The line was snapped and I didn't notice any damage, gave it a shake and tied on a new leader and used it for the rest of the night.
The next morning I noticed the side plate was missing it's magnetic adjustment and the outer side case was cracked ( still works ) .
