What's every wun use in the way of Polarised sunny's ???
I stoped buying the expensive glass's many moons ago cause I kept losing them & to be honest I rarely ever lose the cheaper specs they just hang around for yonks. I did see a segment on one of the current aggairs progs where they exposed optomitrists of marking up the price of glass's by up to 5,000 %. I've also seen what the import price of glass's such as Spotters is & it's a joke what these glass's retail @ My latest Polorised specs are in the pic below, dont know how much they'll retail @ yet as these were given to me to try out. Made in Italy the same place the Eye Ties make the spaggetti's ![]() They fit nicely on my melon & this is impotent to me as I hate glass's that give me a headache ![]() -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I rarely wear 'trendy' shades because they don't fit on my melon. Polarised lenses are polarised lenses in my experience. In the WP, they used to give me Carreras, which were VG. I don't want any of the ones you wear JG, if they make you impotent. |

What about us guys that where glasses all the time, is there a pollaroid system for us? Several of the bigger brands make subscription polaroid sunnies. Looking into it myself at the moment Could be a while as for their price I wanna make sure I'm happy with them. Jack -------------------- ![]() |

Curreny pair are Arnette frames with prescription polarised lenses-frames cost bout $160, lenses bout $300----Being able to see is just priceless! Did buy a pair of cheaper frames once but they just don't fit well and were stuffed within a year, having to pay almost $500 every 2 years for my sunnies I buy the good stuff and look after them! Do VIVA make a neck strap for sunnies JG????? I'd buy one to replace the current one thats almost worn out!

Yeah I've got a pair of Arnettes around here somewhere storms not cheap but I use those glass's when snow sking prob explains why I haven't seen them in years
![]() ![]() I did used to buy Mako's with glass lense's for the boat but after I droped a couple of pairs into the drink from up on the flybridge thought enough is enough Again I refer back to my earlier comment where I said I've seen how much all these expensive glass's cost to import & what they retail for & their are some humungus markups. I have no probs seeing into the water from a pair of cheaper glass's & really have to Q if the expensive glass's are all they're cranked up to be you can only polarise lenses one way. I'll let you's know how these new glass's from Viva fair not on the market yet only a few sample box's arrived & I got 1st pick ![]() QUOTE Do VIVA make a neck strap for sunnies JG????? Not that I'm aware of, they dont even make the glass's they're imported from Italy somewhere which surprised me thought they would've come from China QUOTE I have clip on polaroid lenses for my prescription glasses. They are great. R U refering to the pieces of tinted plastic that you attach to your glass's using masking tape kk ?? ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Ive got a pair of Spotters. They cost me $200 but i needed them at the time cause all other ones wouldnt fit properly. I had a pair of Fish ones which are cheaper, but they fogged up and gave me the shi7s, so i gave them to the missus and they fit well.
Im one of those people who cant leave the house without sunnies. Even in overcast days i will be wearing them. If i dont, i cant open my eyes. I make sure i have a pair everywhere. 2 on the boat and 1 in each car, a couple at home and always a pair on me. Sounds abit full on, but ive always had pretty sensitive eyes, (not the bedroom eyes JG looks at me with). Especially since ive had the laser surgery. |

What about us guys that where glasses all the time, is there a pollaroid system for us? This has already been answered. I too have a pair of prescription sunnies. The last ones did not cost that much. I use my glasses for distance and so I need to have these if I want to see the fish that got away. I should really say the fish that I am going to catch, if only I could cast 100 meters from the shore. ![]() |

I get the cancer council polarised specials. I think they were $30 and work perfectly well. I have some polarised ray bans that I wear when I'm not fishing (but of course I have to look into every stretch of water I see for potential fishing spots - just in case - I don't think my wife realises they're polarised...). May have to look into prescription glasses coz I'm getting old.

My last few pairs have been shimano's from k-mart.

Just my opinion but I believe spending $$$ on some things that are made for a specific purpose can be very worthwile! Polarising as you said JG is only done 1 way but the tinting the lenses get I believe has an impact on how well you can see whats going on below the water surface.....I'v been using the smoke tint(kinda grey) which works great when its sunny and is still good when the clouds come to visit, have tried the darker(almost black) tint and had trouble once the sun goes....Maybe its just my poor eyesight!

I have one good pair of Spotters, one good pair of mako's, one good pair of Rayban ( spelling ) . And several pairs of el cheapos that don't even have a brand name on them.
I rearely wear sunnies, only sometimes when I remember or think to put them on when doing a long trip. Don't know what any of them cost as they are part of promotions, sponsors etc. Very rarely have them on in the boat, so don't really know what it's like with them on. -------------------- Frank

Mate I wear sunnies religiously - ever since I took my 5 year old son for a fish and showed him how to cast - he hooked me in the nose because the bait had bounced off my the lens of my sunnies - flippin flip it was close. Caused a bit of merriment for the passers by at Narrabeen lagoon on a summers day, a lump of slimey mackerel pinned to my boat race. |

That's probably as good a reason to wear them as the benifits they obviously have of protecting the eyes. Me, it is amazing that I can even still see at all. For 40 years + I have been welding etc without helmets on, just tacks but still gives off the eye damaging effects etc. Yes I should start wearing them regulary but I just can't get used to them. -------------------- Frank
