What is it with the Victorian Fisho's have these Snapper Racks around their boat sterns.. Seen it in pictures and on Videos, and they will have 10 rods out the back at a time??
Is it just the mexicans or do people do it up here as well, I struggle to fish 2 rods at a time when there is a bit of action i recon that your better of concentrating on 1... |

Yes it is mainly a Vic thing and more to the point a PPB, WPB Fishnet thing. The Vics think they look good and in a certain way I agree to a point. Fisho's like shiny stainless steel all over their boat, and it gives them a feeling of importance if their boat has more shiny bits then their neighbours. It all started out with a few guys posting a photo of their you beaut fancy shiny rod holders, and the more that seen it the more that had to have them. I dont say too much cause I feel sorry for most of them cause they only have a couple of species to catch at different times of the year, and they have to have something to gloat about. Rumpy, those rod holders I sent you might not look as pretty, but they will do the same job. -------------------- Frank

Ive met the man... And point taken That's alright. I have thick skin (and a big head). I still remember the first time I met you too Jed. It was a surprise. Someone tapped me on the shoulder, and I followed the arm, which went around the corner and was attached to your shoulder. |

I do not see much wrong with these. If you want to have one sitting on the back of the boat then why not.
Now fishing with ten rods might be a bit harder, but then again there was one fellow (Land Based) had three rods out. These were 14 foot rods and tied to the rail support so when a fish took the bait he could reel it in. He caught one fish and that was after 5 hours of being there. He was fishing very heavy ball sinker. |

I believe that these racks originated in the days of a housing slump,
there was an excess of Plumbers down Mexico way and the Plumbers started fitting out the boats with these things made from PVC Pipe, they used to look like housing blocks with all the drainage on the outside, then came the Smart Plumber who decided to use stainless Tubing from a Dairy Company, Now they have been refined even more and it appears to be getting contagious.
