hey guys
there are these 2 boats that i'm looking at.
1st of them is a 1600 king fisher. Fibreglass.early 90's. 96 model evinrude 70 hp on it.
2nd is a seafarer runabout. 17 ft. i dont know the exact age of the hull. should be around early 80's. Fully reconditioned 115 hp v4 on it. they're both solid, have biminis, safety gear etc.
I do want a alluminium boat. But i am sick of beeing boatless. and these boats looked good value to me around $4500-$5000.

Dont think age really is a big issue with hulls as long as they're been looked after
By that I mean out of the sun & not showing signs of cracks , spider feet feet rot etc

Motors are a different issue though just remember you get what you pay for unless someone dosen't know the value of what they are selling

Dont know what kingfishers are never seen one but the seafairy's are a proven boat only prob with them is that they are a bitch to walk around to the front on cant be done & all anching has to be done via the hatch

Boris ,
my pick would be the Kingfisher with it's clinker style hull, and the 70hp motor would be more fuel efficient than the V4 115hp.
PS : give the motor's a good rock and check the transom.

hey sumo, both boats have solid transom and floor, and the seafarer has underfloor storage. Rebuild motor. And
the owner of the seafarer is my mechanic for so long, and i know the boat as well. he is selling it because he bought a bigger hainnes cabin boat for his kids and missus.

Much the same looking boats Boris

You'd have to look @ the condition of them 1st B4 deciding + if motors have an hour meter on them I'd look @ those as well.

Smaller HP motors tend to get reved out more than the bigger HP motors & a 115 hp on the seafairy ?? well that's alot of HP & I'd be asking the owner if it was used to ski with

i know the guy jumpus and he's not a type of guys who skis around hehehe...
the seafarer is big. actually it looks bigger then 17 ft.

i spoke the seafarer about the exact specs for it. you know, the recomended hp, deadrise, etc...
they're gonna reply to me either tomorrow or the next day.
i think then i'll decide.

what was wrong with your old boat boris

nothing was wrong with it, beside 24 degrees deadrise and 170 cm beam...
very very soft riding but not as good for fishing.
thats why i dont want a cabin boat. cabins are just a waste of space for my kind of fishing.
i want my next boat just for fishing.
