How many of ewes get this type of service ???????
Mentioned it around xmas time that my new Black Anchor which is bigger than Bees wittle wun gave me sum grief Not having te tools required I said the alternator had shat itself, well I wasn't that wrong wot had happened was the 100 amp fuse wire coming from the alternator shat itself thus making the alternator useless by not charging the bateries so I was sorta correct. Anyways being xmas knew there was a fat chance of getting it fix till the 18th of this month cause the place I purchased motor from was shut till then. Allthough I'm mates with chris from Sea Sea Marine& have his mobile no I didn't ling ling him cause I respect his privacy & new he was spending time with hs kids. Luck saw him ling ling me early last week to say hurro & I menioned wot had happened to the Black Anchor I was tlold he'd meet me @ the shop & to bring the goat over dropped it off last wednesday then I took off up to Pt Stephens after that to annoy Bees Knees Got a call on thursday again from chris to let me know wot was wrong with the black anchor prob was Mercury had no replacement stock of the fuse wire untill the 19t of this month so Chris went to he trouble of adapting a makeshift fuse wire taken from another motor so as I could use the boat. I got back from Pt Stephens late yesterday arvo & rang Chris's dad who lives local to the shop & he was kind enough to go open up the shop for me so as I could pick up the goat this arvo. Now that's wot I call service I dont usually give things like this a plug but thought this was worthy of wun & there's a couple on this site who'll vouch for the type of service I ge from Sea Sea. Admitingly I've purchased quite a few outboards from Chris over the years & he may not allways be the cheapest mainly because he wont put a brand name on his doors & get dictated to by the various outboard Co's. But he makes all that up if I want something done right away -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Do you know what blew the fuse?
Was it from overload or a short circuit? Where was the fuse, I only noticed the ones we looked at together? Was the blown fuse the cause of the alarm beeps, did you ever find out what the code was? Did the outboard guy think it could have caused the engine surging? So many questions, so little time. Good service from him anyway & I hope it all runs perfectly now, let the speed trial begin, where's Bees? -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Well it's not working QUOTE 100 amp fuse wire Not a fuse QUOTE cause of the alarm beeps, did you ever find out what the code was? Exactly wot I said it was, very low charge in battery QUOTE Did the outboard guy think it could have caused the engine surging? Wi Yu No Risten ?? Explained wot the surging was allready ! must be the Alsationist desease kicking in, how ewe noticed flea's under your arm pits ?? ewe wont find any on your shinny head Surging was dead batteries, when I hooked up wun that had charge in it there was no surging -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

A 100 Amp fuse wire that is not a fuse and yet it blew.
Give me a break, do you ever read what you type, you're a nut job. Remember the gizmo that was wired into the big red wire from the alternator with clear heatshrink over it? I'm betting that is/was a fusable link, why did it blow, see if you can get your hands on the old one. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Next time I see you I'll be wearing a wire to record everything you say, you're getting delusional.
Here's a hint, there's only one thing on the boat that will put out more than 100A it it's not the Alternator. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Twas a sirry mistake on my behalve
Leads coming from the black anchor were to long so I cut them to required length slipped on black & red heatshink arse about B4 soldering eyelets back on Never did I crank the motor over [it had no oil in it] New sumting was amiss when tilt switch was working back to front on motor [reverse polarbeararity] THat was an easy fix traced back the cables & found the error & just slid larger heatshrink over the existing so as there would be no confuciousaring in the future Thought nutting of it @ the time & even when battery power was diminishing I went through checked the bank of fuses missed the fused link cause I didn't know it twas there mainly because it was shielded by a cover All should be GooDarus now & I can do sum Black Anchoring -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Dont really know poly
Wasn't in the market for them when I'd bought them only just finished doing up my old 2 strokes back when I'd rebuilt my old blue platey. Walked into Sea Sea & they were sitting there only just arrived a few days earlier, they were 18 months old @ the time. Next thing ewe know they found themselves on the back of my goat dont know how that happpened The price was right & they comoned down I guess I've had them 4 years now & they've copped a bit of stick from me esp with all the many trips out wide chasing the YFT Was talking to chris the other day just to book them in for a service & he suggested we rip the heads off to have a looky, I was happy to do that cause they hadn't been run for 5 months whilst I was playing around building the wittle herd of goats. Wun of them was playing up on me so rather than go back & forth trying to solve the prob opted to do a semi rebuild -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

yep that makes good sense, it will be interesting to see what they find, I am also interested to see how the new merc go's on fuel and noise as i have herd they are quit noisy compered to other brands of 4stroke but are better on fuel.

Paul Dont believe everything ewe hear poly I can assure ewe my black anchor is every bit as quiet as the Yams, In fact I've done a boo boo @ least twice so far not realising I hadn't switched it off & cranked it over whilst motor was still running. Fuel wise ?? Hard to tell yet cause it's either going flat stick or idling along doing 1000 rpm. Did finally top up the tank last week 4 the 1st time to full capacity added 130 litres to wot I thought was another additional 30 - 40 litres in the tank. Tank is alot bigger than I restimated -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
