Garmin Echo 300c Options

Can anyone help me with my new sounder problem ?.
I have a Garmin echo 300c and it appears to be stuck in simulator mode.
I am usually pretty good with electronics and have in the past worked out
many problems for others, this one has me beat.
I tried for about 1 hour ( on water ) to fathom the thing out and get it to work and after that time gave up in frustration, practically ruined a week ends fishing enjoyment for me as I had no sounder at front of boat for electric trolling.
I have read the book and followed how it says to do it. There is no mention anywhere in the book that even mentions ( simulator mode ) let alone explain how to get out of it.
I tried resetting back to factory settings but go through the menu till the very last step and what it says to do in the book, doesn't happen on the sounder, the last step is not available.
Must be something simple I am missing.
Please help.

It's OK guys all is sorted.
My mate got here and after 10 minutes of trying to work it out he
said " lets try my transducer on it " which we did, plugged his
tranny in and everything works perfectly.
He works at a place that sells the units so is going to replace my
transducer with one that works and claim the broken one
on warranty.
