Well seeing as though i think me and KKW are the only 2 that catch any fish thought id better put a few pics and a breif report up...
Spent the first day on JB, went lookin for slimys first but no luck, did get one OS squid, which ended up as seal food.. Bastard. Bloody things just kept harassing us!! Started a bit slow with a few snappy ones, just legal but let them go anyway, a few other reefies followed but still slow... Not far from us massive schools of yakkas started breaking the surface, so we got to the side of em and got a few on bait jigs and put out lives and BANG.. Got smashed.. reefed us a number of times.. No livies left we threw out some metal slices and pulled em around the school, same thing, smashed. starting to loose alot of tackle now! Finally we managed a 65cm kingy, took a pilly floating on 6kg and gave a great fight... Next I threw out a knife jig.. First time ive really had a proper go with one of these and within minutes, I was on, 30lb Fins braid and heaps of drag and i couldnt stop it, thought i was done again, after a minute the first run was over and started to make some ground, until he saw the boat.. 3 times i saw colour and he dissapeared to the depths again, then the seal came in for the chase, just as i thought he was about to grab him i flicked on the bait runner and let the king make a run, once clear i locked up the drag and put some real pressure on, as soon as the leader came to the boat i grabbed it and ripped him in as the seal made one last grab for it (see pic!) Anyway a few pic... Oh, the second day we had a few hours on the basin, 3 nice flatties a nice bream too... |

You should check for water in your boat Pez it looks a bit lopsided.

Well we hit JB on sunday morning, had an early start and im guess that Verns Shirt is BAD LUCK!!
There wa bait everywhere in JB, Yellowtail and slimys!! All over the place.. Couldnt hook any of them though. They would swin straight past the bait jigs, straight past prawns and bait, straight past lures, I didn manage to hook one on a metal spice but dropped it at the boat... So with no livies we resorted to jigging the edge of the bait schools, no luck though.. At any one time there were around 3 of these schools, a few hundered meters apart, all bubbling on the surface.. Oh Well, Next time hey.... PS... Love the Lox Jigging Rods!!! Thanks Ange.. We will break em in soon.... |

There's a twick to using bait jigs
If bait is on the surface cast behind bait & twitch jig back -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
