Hey guys

For my year 12 DT Major Project, i am going to make a beginners guide to fishing NSW. There will be a waterproof magazine, a normal magazine, and their will be a website with my own fishing games to help fishing skills, and videos!

I'm just thinking of all the content i am going to place in my magazine and i am wondering if i am missing anything ? remember this book will be for beginners so i do not need to do into great detail.

What do you think of this for content ?

The Content –

Danny. I really do admire your drive, but believe me it's not as easy as your worst nightmare,, firstly you will need to convince a publisher that your book will sell, then you will have to get a book binder to produce a few copies to present to the sales reps etc etc etc.

May I suggest a somewhat lesser task for you but something that would be extremely rewarding at the same time.

It's a bit late this year but for next year,,, Make a calander.
Each month you have a different species of fish as the months photo, a sort of E Z 2 C calander the zed pronounced yankie style to read zee, you have full tide chart with veriations throught Australia, moon phases, a story on the feature fish and a run down of possible species that would be abundant in that month, cover all bag limits etc for different states, you cover the full Australia and fresh water as well as salt water species, with description habitats rigs etc etc etc.
You could have a photo of a site member for each month or gust a general photo. You would also enclude most of the subjects you have covered in your book.
Tackle stores and such would be more prepaired to stock and sell calenders rather than books.
The only drawback is it's just one time of the year that they would sell, but you could do it each year and maybe add greeting cards etc for all occasions,,, you could become a self made millionaire in a few short years, you are young enough to do it and I think Keen enough.
Cheers Frank

Frank mate i think that is the best idea i have ever heard ! i have already started making the magazine but i think i'll put it away and try attempting this! I understand more people would be interested in this, and i could make one every year.

I don't think i've seen such a thing but i am going to start making a model as soon as i have something to eat.

Because i haven't seen such thing, it'd be i appreciated by the markers more because it's new and unique.

I could even maybe have a sonsor for it. Maybe for this first year just someone who will help me get it in stores.

Thanks Frank ! seeing if this goes well, i'll get a few more printed off and because i'll have my licence (feels like i have to wait forever) i'll drive over to your place and give you a copy smile.gif

Interesting , if you need space for the website just yell.
I could even let you use www.fishing-oz-style.info as I still own the domain.♠
You could even make the calender in a simple web progam like publisher and use google for ads.

oz your the man,

Dan Don't give up on the idea for the magazine, may be put on hold for now and as you get some spear time you can work on it .
I did say once before that you could go on to be a writer, can you imagine what an editor would think if you were to present him your own magazine as part of your resume.

Haha, oh the good times.

Thanks for all the support guys, i'm going to post up a quick model soon. I think i might make that magazine as well but in my own time. It could be very good like you said Paul, who wouldn't like that as a resume ?

Oz, i'll get help from you to put the website online. I have learned how to make a website with Adobe Dream-weaver, so the website will look pretty good. I am going to embed videos from YouTube to save space as well. Thanks mate

put the hot spots in and soon every man and his dog will be there fishing.

Nobody in their right mind will give up their honey hole to be shared with everyone. You will find that there will be very few, if any, fishing magazines publish locations for this exact reason.
