Before Xmas I tried to put on one of the boat lifejackets and after 15 minutes of rooting around with silly straps I decided we needed to update into ones with a zipper & clips.
We finished up getting Baymasters after checking out all the ones available because the collar wasn't too big & they looked the most comfortable. Also didn't want to fool around with inflatables. Today was the day, both of us bobbing around in the pool like a couple of corks, we even managed to put them on while treading water so we're very happy with them. I did a bit of a test yesterday without a jacket, just treading water & floating around for a while and I got a bit of a shock that I'm not as fit as I thought I was. Damned old age sort of sneaks up on you so be careful out there you old guys. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Fed I have to get a couple of jackets myself but will definately be getting the inflatables, have used them down Vic as was in under 4.8 boat and they are required. you don't really know you have them on and now you have to wear a jacket when crossing a bar I for the first time in my life have to start wearing them when I go out from Bermagui cause believe it or not they class the opening as a bar. Still been in and out many many times since the law came in but it's only a matter of time before I get pinched. And yes I probably wouldn't be able to swim too far if I fell in. I walk 20 yards and have to stop for a breather. -------------------- Frank

I will have to watch out for old age, in case it sneaks up on me. That would have been a funniest home video, watching the Feds floating around in their pool with lifejackets on.

yeah, yeah..... I must have been old when I was 20. That's how long I have been rock fishing for them Different strokes. Some old farts just go out on their boats and say they're fishing but never come home with the goods. That reminds me, I had better go for a fish in my boat. Now where did I put those keys.

Must to the RedThongkini Fed Esp when there's a void area around the crotch part creates air turbulance & wun gets the feeling wun is getting old. Have a word with Frank no such prob with him cause he does it in the nutty no RedThongkini to drag him down unlike ewe he dosen't swin like a rock QUOTE Fed I have to get a couple of jackets myself but will definately be getting the inflatables Just be wary of the fact every 2 years I think it is they have to be re-certified ends up to just go out & buy a new wun evey time certification is required. -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Forgot to mention there is a downside with the jackets we got, they don't flip you over onto your back so if you went in the water unconscious the there's a 50/50 chance of floating face down.

Just be wary of the fact every 2 years I think it is they have to be re-certified ends up to just go out & buy a new wun evey time certification is required. I am pretty sure that you can do self inspections. It is every 12 months. http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/docs/campai..._inspection.pdf |
