Planned the trip today to Botany Bay with Christos....
Went to Oatley boat ramp and arrived in the Bay around 6:15am...water was fine with a slight swell at first but was calmer later in the morning... We had chicken, prawns & squid for bait... We had my wife's famous homos, tuna and cheese for lunch....yummy...and lots of drinks and water....and chocolates..... Tried the breakwall at first, but to no avail...then went to the drums...here we had lots of bites...first cast and Christos lands a 27cm bream....then we caught trevally, and lots of baby snapper...on the light rod we caught a kingy around 50cm, but it broke free near the boat...would have been nice of the fish to stick around for a photo first...we did see a bloke in a kayak reeling in a big kingy but lost it as he was trying to net it... Bites were thick and fast, but we had to move as a big tanker was arriving....we then drifted a bit in the bay, but very quiet elsewhere...headed over to the Georges for an active session of more bream.... All in all it was a great day fishing and cruising around....here are some pics from the trip..

I know it's ewe under that Gilligans hat & dark sunny's Habits die hard. This is what I wear when I go fishing off the rocks. Wide bream.. Hat Sunnies for the protection of the eyes and seeing through the water. If ewe were getting snagged ewe weren't fushing the place correctly We found the location and though that we might give it a go. The problem is by the time we set the anchor we moved off the location. I was happy catching the Sweep they are after all a fish. Yes they are. The swell picked up a bit and Majed was getting snagged quite a bit. We started with four rods but ended up using only two. We were only there for a short time and I think that Majed was setting up most of the time. When Majed got hold of the King Fish he played with it a little bit but I think that it still had quite a bit of fight in him. I was not quite ready to put the net in the water before if ran under the boat and that was the end of that fight. As Majed mention there was a lad fishing on a Kayak and when this was happening both Majed and I stopped fishing to see how / what would happen. This fish had the rod bend straight down and the top half had even entered the water. So it was always going to be an interesting outcome. We did not hear the familar sound of the ping when the fish wins the day but we saw it. |
