J.G. could the boys got one at a better price from china ARE the Chines making them ????????????

when we think about this, the boat may make a great test bed for new gear coming from china, that's if the people at viva wish to

Paul

Um !

In general yes they could've got the boat built in china for a hell of alot cheaper than getting wun built here

Chi Nee are hopeless @ designing etc but they are great copy cats

BUT !

The cost of these 3 goaty's has amazed even Jumpus I wont disclose how much cause I wont get believed bear in mind I'm not adding labour costs into the equation either nor has any expense been skimped on as far as the fittings etc.

Have to give a wee bit of credit to my off sider Bees, he's been playing my secretary on the projects chasing up the deals, opening accounts with co's to get the prices, we got some super super deals on the alloy this alone has kept costs right down.

Helpswhen your ordering for 3 goats as well a mate of mine in the industry cant get the price on alot of the gear that I did & he's in the industry, then there's all the peeps Jumpus knows who go out of their way to do the best deals for him we're talking 60% discount on fasteners I'm now on 40% off on the paints & the list goes on.

And yep the 1st boat will be used as a promo for their gear that's the main reason I ended up scaping that tinny project a few months back & talked them into a new goaty, me tinks I'll have to spend a couple of days @ their warehouse raiding the shelves & setting up outfits /tackle box's for the goat hysterical.gif

Have to admit it's good to see the boys bringing in alot of good gear in these days instead of the rubbish they initially started importing & their sales are a testiment to that they are doing quite well now.

As far as the Viva Factory in China goes well it's gigantorus 100,000 sq meters has everything from accomidation apartments tenis courts, swiming pool etc etc etc only completed this year so it's a brand new complex, Viva is now the biggest manufacturer of rods & reels in the world.

QUOTE
If you get a chance you should slip the whole rig over a weighbridge just to see.

Yeah Fed I'm curious as well & will weigh it when I drop the goaty off on thursday, I've done calculations by how much alloy went into the goaty

JUMPUS: you amaze me - the boat(s) are really great AND I know just how much work you have put into them.
Even to think of tackling projects of that size by yourself - good on ya! clapping hands.gif

It looks like the forum ghost is still posting pictures... BRRR! Spooky.

I checked the Merc website out of curiosity.
Dry 90HP 4 Banger 181 Kg.
Trailer 280 Kg.
120 Litres of fuel 90 Kg.

Looks like you have a couple of hundred Kilos for the boat + fittings etc.

These goats are toys compared to sum of the projects I'd built B4 retiring

Jumpus gas allways said if your heart is not in wot ewe are doing then ewe shouldn't be doing it

That's why I retired, ewe cant be good @ wot ewe aew doing if your heart is not in it.

Building these goaty'd has lit a spark again after all these years it's looking @ the end product that gives me a stiffy then I sit back & think back to wot has gone into them .

Trailer 280 Kg.

Trailer dosen't factor in to the weight , it's wot the trailer is carrying that counts

Well there you go, I have always thought the 750 Kg and up for brakes was the all up weight including the trailer.

QUOTE
BRAKING SYSTEM
The minimum braking system for a trailer depends on
the type of trailer, its weight and the weight of the vehicle:
0 – 750 kg loaded weight – no brakes required.
751 – 2000 kg loaded weight – braking on both wheels
on at least one axle.
2001– 4500 kg loaded weight – braking on all wheels,
and an automatic breakaway system in case the trailer
becomes detached from the vehicle.
Brakes must be operable from the driver’s seating position.

I've gotta say that I don't know from personal experience with trailer weights but that's how I've always seen it.

Not that real happy with this wun bafoo 2B honest a few stuff ups soured it but the new owners loved it they were grinning from ear to ear today

I'm eager to get started on the next wun cause I know there wont be any stuff up on the next 2 now that I've nutted evlly ting out

Bees liked the layout of this wun but mine will be alot different, I installed the sounder/GPS today same with the downrigger all the elects are now complete, I even sprayed in the rego on the boat peel off the masking tommorro give it a cleanup.

Then I can drop it down onto the ground onto sum rollers & push it out about 2 meters else the windscreen frame will crash the roof, Then up it goes onto the trailer ready for monday when I take it down to my mates & bolt the motor on, not even going to attempt doing it @ my place alot easier with the forklift.

I should have everything else hooked up by tuesday & wednesday it's off for a test run.

I wont take any more pics till it's out of the driveway.

QUOTE

That's why you have the trailers Tare Weight on the rego papers & why a weighbridge certificate is required to register a vehicle they deduct that from the overall weight

Yep Fed, i was asking the same questions regarding weight... There isn't much that he misses hysterical.gif

I have been looking at other plate builds lately, and was wondering if 90hp was enough?? I've seen a few this size with 115's and a 5.7 or something had a 140 suzuki on the back...
Regardless, i dont need wot/36kts... Just a nice planing speed will do. rolleyes.gif

I'd expect it would do 36 Knots WOT with an average load anyway Bees.
More than fast enough and you get a terrific range as a bonus with the 90.
I've had mine up to 35 Knots and it's probably heavier & pushes more air with the cab & canopy.

Jumpus aint Stupid he was Wai Ting for the 1st 2 guinea pigs B4 he decided wot size dont to order 4 himself hysterical.gif

GooDarus guess with the 80 yammy going on the back of the 1st goaty it'll pull around 33 knots more than enough speed

I've allready decided on the 115 HP anyways simply cause it's the same size & weight as the 80 Hp & the 100 Hp + I'd rather be baby'n a bigger motor than reving out a smaller Hp wun

Besides I get to say

My Wun is BIGGER than yours 22.gif 22.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Was out & about yesterday out @ Hunts marine they had sum quintrex's in the showroom & I wooked @ the prices & got a shock

Love to know wot these are worth

J.G. with this question I was thinking more along the lines of things like sounders G.P.S. if they can get them out of China at a good price there new boat would be the best place to run tests.

I would think there is a big market for combos, there is no way some one like myself are going to splash out 3grand on a combo to fish the rivers and stream's. yes there are cheep ones out there but most are black and white and the sounders arn't much good in deeper water, plus most have small screens, and with me eye sight they are not an option I think its worth them thinking about it

Looking the goods Ang.
I caught up on all the posts of the build yesterday and see your flying along. Bees, you must be getting a stiffy!
Any covers going to be made up for them, or is that an optional extra by the owners?

I dont know how the boat builders loose money Jumpus... Seriously.. Now that you have witnessed buying power in the industry first hand, there is a tidy profit for the builders V's the product that they push out.

To think there would be further saving bringing your metal in from china. Mass producing... Keel and gunwale dies for the more time consuming parts of the build...

To me, they have no excuse.. mad.gif super.gif

I can't really agree Bees, yes they do have massive buying power, but there overheads are massive as well and that money has to won back, as J.G. said he has not facted in labor, to me that would add in at least another 25to30% perhaps even more
J.G. any idea how many hours have gone in to the build???????????

Cant do that poly !

Agencies get set up here & they have to be protected by the factories

Having said that I got a shock yesterday, I'd allready spoken to the boys from Viva about bringing in some Lecky's for these goats, they have brought them in B4 100 units went to Qld but these were just a transom mount troll motor came from the very same factory as the Javis Walker Snakes.

I wanted the 100 lb thrust for these goats & got declined by the factory back in China reason being Javis Walker have the rights to all the foot contolled Lecks.

The shock I was refering to previously was the Min Kota 80 lb sells for $2,300 here even with my discount out of that price it's still expensive so we found a sneaky work around going to use wun of the european agencies to order from factory in china & ship them off to us @ their cost price, I wont disclose how much 4 but it's put a smile on my face.

QUOTE

I know wot ewe mean I got a shock myself yesterday @ the prices on display.

Cause the boys will be fushing the bays & rivers & not clued up on electronics twas pointless steering them towards the Furuno gear that I use & ended up with a Lowrance combo & all I can say to those who reckon the Lowrance is any where near as good as the Furuno is.

They dont lose money Bees

Wot my shock was $35 k for a pissy wittle Quintrex under 5 meter, nothing special about the trailer either & it had a 2 stroke on the back.

Not just the Boat Building industry any buisness if you dont know how to shop & buy you're throwing profits away.

Just wook @ the Jumpus Brainstorms on these goats & how sneaky I was knowing how & where to shop rolleyes.gif

No idea poly

Ewe have to remember I'm no spring chookens any more & when the crones plays up I get very little done.

Also I went into production mode from the start & everything is all cut up for the next 2 which I might add trailer is just about finished for wun of them & after getting the 1st goat onto it's trailer today ready to take out & get the motor bolted up in the morn.

I even managed to set up the jig this arvo for the next wun, all the frames have been bolted to the jig & the rolled stringers as well decided to call it a day early when I discovered I only had 2 lengths of 500 mm x 6 mm flat bar left

Did ewe hear that Bees ???????????? I want another 20 lengths Yesterday hysterical.gif hysterical.gif hysterical.gif
