if ya buy a blank that is for a threadline reel and ya change ya mind is there any reason why ya cant turn it around and make it an overhead rod ,,,
They are exactly the very same blank
Whether for a threadline or overhead type of reel to be used is governed by guide spacings
Best way to work them out is to load up the rod , I just slip on a tip tie a bit of line to the tip then pull to load the blank
With a marking pen I then trace the rods bend & from there work out the guide spacings

I once heard that the backbone wasnt important anywayz!!!
BWAHAHAHA!
Just be careful when checking the backbone cause if ya line it up with your eye and drop it it REALLY HURTS!
