Well peeps think I've gone a bit loopy de loop still haven't finished the Jumpus Man stick yet & started a new one.
1st time on a rod for ages gamefish wise I loved that 24kg bent butt I was using it was one of Ian Millers rods & hats off to the guy he knows how to build a rod.
It was a beautifull stick & a pleasure to use those on board commented how I made it lookso easy fighting the fish & that's where good tackle makes all the difference.
Anyways I was up late last night glueing on the leather grip I'll trim it back shortly & get down to the buisness of starting the bindings a bit of a copy cat rod moreor less I'm imitating the Miller Rod & 1st time I'm actually building a rod that's so short.
Blank itself is only about 4 ft long I'll be using aftco black & gold rollers + a Aftco short bent butt
I'll add pics as rod progress's & here's one to start off with
That will be worth a mottsa Jumpy you will have to sell the wee boat to pay for the parts Ohi Vei
should call it batemcatchemeatem........
That Ian Miller was worth $1 ,600 some 15 years ago bob
But I'll tell you what he builds a nice rod
ps] I bypassed buying the leather grip from a fishing tackle accessories place way to expensive.
I went down to a leather joint down the road & got a doz made up @ $5 each
That will be worth a mottsa Jumpy you will have to sell the wee boat to pay for the parts Ohi Vei
leather is trimed tip is on time to stat binding
looking good mate....
Yep Yep !
Nearly finished, it's actually turning on the drying motor @ present
A light sand with some wet/dry once this coat has cured & then just one more final coat & it can go fishing
I'll take some decent pics once it's complete
Well peeps !
I couldn't help myself & got carried away
I decided to build up a pair of 37 kg stand up sticks
Original 24 kg stick it finished & so is one of the 37 kg sticks just about to bind on the big foots onto the other 37 kg stick & riggy didge bobs your uncle.
It'll be Marlins time again in the next couple of days
Great stuff mate. I envy the skill in it.
what is the blank you are using jumps?
Frank I call them eagles !
But yep it's a relatively simply design to wrap & I thought I'd keep the gamesticks a uniform matching set.
salty I have to really be in the mood to sit down & build up a rod, Last couple of trips out have put me in the mood
Rumpus couldn't tell you exept that they're imported in by viva, they dont do a great deal of sales on blanks & I found a real good stash of them hidden up on some shelves.
Grabbed a few liked the action & that's what they are, hopefully they'll see some action on the weekend & I can post some pics of them loaded up on a fush or 2
bloody hell jumpy all that work and money $$$$$$$ then you let the bastards go ...no food for dinner...not fair.....fillet&realise ive told you before you dont listen....
I see Dave is reading this thread. He is keen as mustard to get outside in the wild blue seas.
I've mentioned a couple of times that I had a brain explosion resulting in me building up 4 off rods for each line class for the boat.
Rather than starting a new thread thought I'd add pics here
On the left the 2 new 15 kg sticks to complete the set then the 24 kg's & the 37 kg's sticks
Ummm another brain explosion has got me me building a new 6 kg bait rod for the NTM 60 & 1st rod on left is a 2 kg spin stick
Dude in all seriousness, if i was wearing a hat i would take it off to you, your rods are the sexiest rods ive ever seen, full stop.
Look out Ian Miller!
Kamil
