Fishing oz style _ Help & Computer Support _ Uploading Images

Posted by: kkw Feb 15 2008, 01:51 PM

During the past week, when trying to upload images, I have been getting this message:

Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to ensure the uploads directory is writeable

I know that Sumo is getting the same message. Oz Man told me that this will be the case until we are fully migrated onto the new server. Tried again this morning, after seeing Mully had uploaded new pics, but still get the same message. I have plenty of space left in my attachments folder. Anyone have any clues? Oz?

I use photobucket to save sites bandwidth or just link my own site piccys here..
Every site is different but most would prefer you to link from photobucket or similar because of bandwith and server upload time..

photobucket, http://photobucket.com/
image shack - http://imageshack.us/
media max - http://www.mediamax.com/
multiply - http://multiply.com/
heaps more here at http://www.blinklist.com/tag/upload/

The extra benifets are if your computer Hard drive dies you have a picture backup folder online this has saved my butt a million times before I ran 4 external 300 gig drives and true image to mirror every drive ..Running forums and other stuff is extremely stressfull when files and photos are lost and if your pictures are truely precious memories then save them online unless you want to spend around $120 for a small external drive to do this,id opt for the free websites.

try a free host another benifet is you can send an album to a mate or family member and they can print any image you give them permission to look at or just browse your album ,,really its a great idea.

anyway my ramble is going on again

We have a image gallery for all members, its locate at the Top called The Gallery .
It's a Coppermine image register similar to Photobucket and I can adjust it to what I would like member to have in space at present I have it sent to 5mb.The member then has the right to add or delete their own pictures.
I have also allowed image thru attachments.
So please give me more info as to which way you are having trouble.

oh no i clicked on the wrong boat again :o :o :o

the attachment thing works o.k. for me

O.K. the attachment system is now working. It hasn't been the case in the past week or so. It was working if you stored the images elsewhere, such as photobucket or gallery, but if you tried to upload to the fishing oz style site, to store in personal allocated space, you got the message I originally P.M'ed to you. This was the case as late as yesterday evening.

It now works, so something has happened. Sumo and a couple of others had the same message and same problem with uploading images to their allocated attachment space.

All o.k. now.
