Does anyone here use SnagIt I want to take a JPG shot off a PDF?
Thread title change, hopefully?
Nope, windows 7 has snipping tool built in so dont need snagit anymore!
Well that was as much help as a dying duck in a thunderstorm.
What would you like to know, snagit is a screen capture tool and photo editing tool Very easy to use
I usually use smart pdf converter pro when dealing with PDF as it allows me to change it into word documents . jpgs and various others.
Fed. I didn't have a clue what the hell snagit was or what it done, so I googled it just cause, and it came up with free downloads galore, so why not just download it ?.
Great, then I'd have two snagits. Nearly enough for a BBQ.
I want to take a picture of a section of a scrolling screen Jumpy.
Go to options & select scrolling window option
Did you try that, did it work for you?
Edit: It's a bit hard to explain but see if you can take a picture of the first three posts in this thread?
Can't you just take a screenshot, paste it in word, and crop the picture you want
Or am i missing something ?
Screenshot will only take a shot of what you see on the screen, I want a shot of what you see PLUS what you can't see in a scrolling window.
I worked it out with a custom setting in snagit but it's a bit flaky.
You will end up with a photo that the features are too small to see without enlarging them so what's the point. just take 3 or more photos of the sections you want.
No Frank you end up with a tall picture, taller than the screen on your monitor.
Do you want that converter to a word document or a pdf as it is already a jpeg file ., Now I,m confused as I thought he had a pdf that need to be made into a jpeg.
What I wanted Oz was say a single picture of multiple pages taken from a pdf file.
Like this one.
And as I said the writing is too bloody small to read, unless you blow it up 3-4 times in which case it isn't within 1 screen shot any more.
Are you on drugs Frank?
The blown up size is the original size and that's what I wanted.
Next I have a dead set computer problem... GRRR!
The computer is slow Oz, also doing a lot of reading and/or writing to the hard drive as web pages are loading.
In fact it even happens when not browsing the net, the other day after turning on the first thing I did was open my email client and it did a big pause stopping me from activating the 'check email' button, nothing else was running at the time.
Typically, cursering up from the start menu it will lag for up to 3 or 4 seconds before highlighting on the position of the mouse arrow.
Screen text can lag up to 3 or 4 letters behind when I'm typing.
It also happens in safe mode + networking.
Virus & malware free.
Memtest all OK.
Seatools all OK.
cpu & hdd temps all OK.
It's as if it needs to do a huge ram dump to the hdd every 5 minutes or so which in turn is eating up my cpu cycles.
I think it's a hardware problem.
Well the plot thickens.
Event Viewer is throwing up warnings & so is Sea Tools.
What is it Fed do you want me to have a look at it.
And m8 as long as you have the code the OS can be replaced.
Also depend on the brand of HDD and whether it was sold as a OEM some have 2 years up to 5 years warranty if its an OEM they are 1 year only .
All you need to check that is the hdd serial number model number and brand and the internet.
sorry but that was a seagate model that was not real good , would recommend a WDC 1Tb red or blue comes with 2 years warranty and is only about $10.00 more expensive than the 500gb model of seagate.
The whole computer was a poverty pack Oz, just a quicky replacement when my last one went to God.
Picked it up off my local pirate hence the lack of OS disk, he has since been busted by M$oft and is now out of business.
I'd stick W2K on but I'm not sure about drivers for 2000 with relatively new hardware, think I've got a pirate XP kicking around here somewhere but not 100% sure of it.
Maybe clone the whole thing onto a new drive, I dunno, probably keep using it until it blows a valve.
TBH a lot of this stuff is getting beyond me now I lost interest in computers back at the turn of the century.
Up and running again Ozman, microsoft bent my XP Pirate over & F**Ked it up the arse so I'm back on my trusty old W2K SP4.
Have to load some more stuff yet but so far so good aside from antivirus, Avast won't play with W2K without a special hotfix that has to be emailed from Msoft so I'll look for a replacement. Got a lightweight suggestion?
Got a blue WD500GB drive for $80 delivered the next day.
Nerds...
Bees the Technophobe!
Ozman I just noticed when I send a PM in the site there is no record of it in my 'sent items' box?
I've sent 2 to Jumpy in the last 2 days and no record of them at all, he hasn't responded so I don't even know if he got them. Jumpy?
Same price as I would be for the 1tb lol anyhow if you need a copy of windows let me know.
As I have applied to be a Microsoft refurb distrubitor . So I can supply a copy of win 7 pro for about $90.00 if I,m doing a refurb on your computer.
Just what I need a nerd, Bees was right!
Have you ever heard of a SP4 roll up pack for W2K, it's supposed to be all the additional hotfixes they brought out after SP4 just before they stopped support for W2k?
I've been trying to get it but been going around in circles on MS Update.
I just ducked over to MS update to get the link to show you
http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=18997
and it works using Firefox (MS update defaults to IE for updating which has a heart attack)
Hotfixes downloaded and ready to run.
Do you sell legal XPs?
yes if they are still available.
Can you ask?
How much $ for XP Pro full version?
piss windows off and run ubuntu/gnome!
Although, my new OZ/PC with win 7 is going great... Hey Oz, the keyboard keeps turning capitals on and off randomly, is that somthing you have seen before??
Nope never seen that happen before unless a key is stuck down.
I've always found linux to be a little slower than windows.
I've had it on all my computers way back since the early '90s starting with slackware & redhat, it's also a bit limited with getting the programs I'm used to using. Then there's the actual usage, it's sort of alien after using windows for so long.
I had Ubuntu 8.1 before the great HD meltdown do you know what version it's up to now?
Might stick a fresh one on & give it another try out.
ubuntu is now on 13.04
Fed have 2 copies of XP but I have had 1 fail validation as they are not from this zone but are real copies with COA I brought in from overseas. send me your address and I will post the other copy for you to try.If it works you can have it for $20.00 what I paid for the 20 units only 1 fail.
Sent you a PM Ozman.
Did you get my PMs Ozman?
If that's not a goer do you know anything about cloning a HDD, does it make them bootable with a MBR?
yep got the pm.I might go for a drive and drop it in as its only about a 40 minutes from me, will see what the boss has planned.
Seriously mate don't go to any trouble snail mail is fine.
I can send you a cheque or put money in an account for you, no stress.
I'm still considering all my options but I've found out w2k has been left behind by all software makers.
Also looking at getting ubuntu 12.X but they no longer give out disks for it like they used to, have to download & burn an ISO or buy a pack of 10 disks but they're very cheap and offering full support until 2017.
what is the specs of the computer your trying to run things on
a 32 bit or 64bit system
Where do I find that?
It says it's 64bit ready.
2.70 gigahertz Intel Pentium Dual-Core
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded
as the xp I have are 32 bit , question how much ram
Other than suspecting bigger is better I don't get this 32bit/64bit stuff, I'm guessing I've always been on 32bit anyway.
Other than a plaything installed within Windows I'm flicking ubuntu because it's just too hard to use, typical example... compare installing Google Earth in ubuntu & XP, it's like chalk & cheese.
The way I see it my options are...
1) Go with a clean XP install from you. (preferred)
2) Clone my old HDD on to my new one. (do you have any exp in this?)
3) Refit my old HDD (XP) and grab the serial number off it then use that number on my pirated XP pro disk.
It seems to me that the black list of numbers is within SP2 because my pirate disk installs & runs fine until I run SP2 on it.
I reckon they're robbers, I've already paid for XP Pro. (I think) LOL!
All up & running Ozman aside from SP3.
Should I install shampoo & burn the SP3 .iso to a disk then boot the computer with the disk in?
Might need some guidance with winrar right now I'm running on the limited version, it only lasts 30 days but by memory it only throws up a nag screen.
Should we get a room? (PMs)
What I have given you on the cd is a full version just read the NFO or the read file.
If you need a hand can come over tomorrow night.
All good Ozman got SP3 installed.
1st burn was 4.7GBs of thin air LOL!
Ashampoo is very nice to use & non invasive like a lot of burner software.
I tried ubuntu 13 straight off the CD but it was a bit clunky, I'm going to find out if 12 will install along side windows rather than partitioning my HDD.
My old version 8.1 would do it but 13 didn't have that as an option.
Right now all I have to do is copy some junk across that I saved on a memory stick.
My last post in here went AWOL?
Moving right along....
Foxit PDF reader?
I've found it impossible to download, tried 2 computers.
Click on the download link it opens a dialog box and I select to save the file to my desktop.
Then it downloads a few hundred KBs and sits there like a stunned mullet.
I'm open to any suggestions, can someone else give it a try?
Any advice on a Foxit Alternative (Not Adobe)?
That's the one Ozman I gave up & got Sumatra.
It's downloading now through a proxy server, it makes no sense at all because I tried it on alternative sites yesterday like filehippo.
Perhaps it's something to do with my own isp.
And who might that be.
comcen since the early 90s
