Fishing oz style _ Lets Talk Fishing _ Fishing Trip

A couple of months back kkw & Fed were taking about some fishing show on TVSin regards to snapper fushing in Mexico [Melbourne]

Well think I just watched the same repeat show , missed the start of it & no great loss that was.

Dont think I've ever seen a more unproffesional attempt to make a fishing video in all my years.

The main guy doing all the talking flapped his jaws a hell of alot but never said anything of substance nor was he very informative just kept flapping his jaws like you'd expect from a drunk person @ the pub.

Add to that his poor attempt telling viewers that the berkly braid was the only way to catch those snapper but every fish hooked took the bait from an outfit which was loaded with mono line not braid.

One guy got spooled they said it was a shark which I dont doubt but the outfit used was very light on line from the onset lucky to have been 3/5's spooled.

Yes peeps I'm very observant & look @ everything.

1/2 through the show flapper jaws was trying to promote the Shimano Snapper Rods used & right @ the end of the show on the far left side in the rod holder was one of those Shimano Snapper Rods sitting there with about 20 cm's of the tip broken off laugh.gif laugh.gif

The host of the show knew how to handle a rod I'll grant him that but you'd think he would've guided the young bloke fighting a snapper on how to work a fish back to the boat ???

Guy was winding but not gaining any line laugh.gif laugh.gif

Fish would go for a run taking drag & this guy would still be winding laugh.gif laugh.gif

Jumpy,

I would say most of the fishing shows on TV are like that. Honestly unless they are fishing their own backyard the bloody guide with them is the real expert.

That said I still watch them because they are fishing.

No they're not even Rexxy yipperty yapperta goes to the trouble of explaining things to his viewers

This guy was bloody hopeless showed 2 unbaited hooks to the viewers with no instructions how to bait up for the novices.

Then there was a bit on bream fishing this old bloke just hanging onto the rod while this goose was making the fish out to be the bream from hell.

Was a nice bream but I reckon this guy was on something & I dont mean fish either laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yep, thats the guy... Everything comes with his call sign.. "STOP THE BUS"

Bring back Rexie i say! but i have a soft spot for him

Posted by: Jumpus GooDarus Mar 14 2008, 03:59 PM

Yep Bee's

@ least rexxy was a bit imformative & what I liked about him was the fact that he was educating people esp the younger kids that it was OK to release fush & you didn't have to kill everything you caught.

I like most fishing shows. If you really hate a fishing show that much why do you watch it?

Posted by: Christos Mar 14 2008, 08:45 PM

I used to watch fishing shows when I was younger. Rexie was one fellow that got me interested. I watch some others and a friend has purchase some fishing video's. Well some that he purchased were not good and some were very good.

I have seen one that three guys were just speaking around a table telling and one fellow was telling us to setup prior to being on the water. He was doing that but did not show us how. mad.gif Kept talking and then had a go at the viewers for not being able to fish. Now hang on. They just insulted the person who purchased your video. We rewind just to ensure that we were not misunderstanding. We kept watching thinking that it might get better and at the end of the video it was advertisement for his fishing charter company.

A good dvd on fishing was one that I got free from the department of fishing etc... It is a learn to fish dvd not very detailed but very good for the starting fishing persons. Covers a wide range of types of fishing and is geared for the beginner.

Have found some of the Adventure Bounds Ok. Also ET is generally pretty good with Geting kids out and a few tips.

Fishing WA Definatly takes the cake as the best, They show all sorts of Info from Knots (had a 5 min segment on how to tie the bimni twist) and baits and they catch some Great fish, And I recon they are the only ones who say ya dont need stellas and saltiga's to cacth big fish, even prooving it by buying of the shelf Spinfishers and catching massive GT's.
