Not my fault Fish Scarer tagged along
so the score was 0
Were you out in the sinking boat or the death ship, wondering how the extended roof went in the rain.
Self-confessed fish scarer, these days...
Told ewe i'd train you Bees
Avery quiet day on the water seems the good supply of marlins that were off sydney last weekend have moved on
We were prob only one of a few boats that raised a fish & this is how the daygo
Put lures out early in close as soon as i saw blue water cause in close was where the fish were last week boats that went wide last week were on zero's all day.
Very quite marking very little to no bait @ all on the sounder & that was the norn all day so hit auto pilot & set course for the shelve
Nobody on board was prepared to have a dance with bees so he went under cab & did sleepies
Wozza asked where a texta was he wanted to draw tits on Bees back & have a perv
Dont be stupid i said just roll him over & perv on his man boob they're much bigger than any tits ewe canever draw
With auto on wasn't paying attention to gps watching spread out back & hadn't realised we'd travelled out into 200 fathoms & when i did i turned boat NW to track back towards the shelf that's when Star Rigger went off.
The Duck got woken by my yelling & the ratchet noise but alas the hookup was short lived fish spat hooks didn't get a full view of fish so no idea in regards to size only saw it's re entry back into the water
Oh yeah tried finding birds working on the radar but there was to much cloud
nothing to do with the fish scarer, that boat needs to find its mojo and soon, remember jumpy if you don't catch a big stick head by the end of summer your post count will revert back to zero on all sites.
Paul
Not going to bother starting anutta thread
Got up this morn & i didn't want cooler night had me sleeping well & the noisy alarm tv wouldn't shut up
Walked outside & sky's were as bad as yesterday motivation definately was not there.
Last minute opted to tow down the coast wasn't in the mood to pull lures & what a wise desion that was.
Bait collected a mile from reef intended to be fushed port motor didn't sound right thought prop had spun the bush cause that motor wasn't going anywhere
Tossing up wheather to turn around & head home but conditions were good & opted to limp around on one motor which i would've been doing anyway as we were pulling baits.
Day was allready old @ 11 am only took 1o minutes for 1st slimmy to go off ratchet was screaming & think i blew it cause instead of going to reel after nutralising motor & take rattchet off I was to busy looking for sammy the plic who we'd seen earlier.
Anyway marlins didn't go on with it gave it a few minutes & pulled bait in for inspection then i got a 10 meter from boat up came a dorsal fin & a bloody big wun @ that belonged to an estimated 150 kg fish, marlins had followed the retrieved bait back to the boat.
In the next hr we saw no fewr than 5 or 6 marlins we really lost count no further than 40 meters from the boat with no takers
Finally we were on top of a huge shool of baitfish so pulled out bait jigs to fill up tank & turf out the yakka's, just drifting letting the 2 slimmy we'd been pulling out the back.
One of the rods went screaming off scared the crap out of but this time i was alert off with ratchet & line was pouring off the spool i gave it heeps off line pushed drag lever up rod loaded up then went slack & i retrived a empty hook
Saw another 2 marlins on the surface after that 15 minutes later place went dead except for the mass's of slimmy schools so i got on the ling ling machine organised a prop for tommorro had decided to leave boat @ a mates who lives down that way drive home & back in morn for a nutta days fushing
Was just B4 2 pm @ this stage & another 2 odd hrs passed b4 we saw a nutta marlin came up behind one of the baits but didn't take it called it a day shortly after.
Got back to ramp trailer the boat & 1st thing i did after that was to check prop
Not happy jan prop was ok & have to pull gearbox apart
Was it the port motor?
Yay!!! Another fishing report - kind of. I was down off Marley a while back and the water wasn't warm, when a big Manta Ray appeared beside the boat. It swam around it a few times and then continued north. I was amazed to see that, when a few minutes later, a marlin did the same. It was eyeballing me for a few minutes and then just hung around for a while. I was jigging for kings and quickly wound up and put on a hook and big cowanyoung. Cast it out near the marlin, but it was a no go. It looked very thin and sickly and after about 10 mins, also took off to the north. Water was too cold for both those fish, I thought, but there they were.
What brand motor? Oh wait, I remember.
Hope it's an easy fix Jumpy, how is the extended roof?
Hey Anje!!!!!
If i remember right (and in have witneses)
the last time you were down at Verns/Chads
i think i can remember saying to you that the PORT prop felt
like it had a fair bit of freeplay or slop
did you ever have a look at it?
Yep, thats right....
Too much prop dancing across the bay im guessing!
Nothing to do with that pez
Counter rotators & if you spin both same direction you will get that
Did need an adjustment back in the binacle box
But think i know my motors by now & my money is on a water getting into box
gosh ya have a bad run jumpy...
Always seem to have problems with ya boats!
condensation,
busted motors,
short roofs,
broken seats,
wheels falling off,
trailers breaking at the winch,
prop/gbox issues,
sounders not showing contours,
im sure ive missed a few....
Maybe you should buy a glass boat and have more time to go fishing instead of fixing it all the time!
Mr Jumpy, you have done enough for me in this short time for me not to 'shit on you, on every opportunity'... To this day, if your being an idiot, i will call you and then tell you.
Wall to wall Yellowfin & Marlin and Jumpy's stuck without a gearbox.
I'm betting his mate at SeaSea is taking his earplugs to work today.
If he is really smart he will call in sick....
Go Fluk yourselves ewe tu
See my mates look after me pulled a box off anutta motor as a loaner
So up yours Fed Jumpy dosen't belong to the Goose Squad
hope its a counter, otherwise your boat might do backflips!
No it's not a counter port counters are rare
To be honest i really dont think having counter rotaters make a great deal of difference but now cause of that leaning BC thread i'll be pating more attention to see if there is indeed a diffence.
That's if i even put that spare gearbox on weather looks crappy & just about to take off to start pulling my box apart chris is busy dismantling his mercruisers so i'll have to get my hands dirty
thought counters usually went on the port side?
What with the weather you're better off just fixing it up I think Jumpy.
Lucky it's not the counter there could be some hard to get little parts in them.
Should give the other one an oil change too, make sure there's no water in it.
I was over that way last week so I took the opportunity and peed on both your motors so they're probably just dissolving.
Jumpy, when you say
Dont worry about Fed
Had tto stop by & sort him out, turns out Seafairy hasn't Fed the Goose 4 some time & he talks funny
What's up with ya, just weld some teeth back onto the pinion & clean up forward & reverse with a file.
Then a good spray with Mr Sheen and it will be just like a new one.
It doesn't look as bad as I expected Jumpy but once that metal gets through it...., looks like Merc.
Bugger all on the main gears
But you dont change a pinion & fit old gears back in
No worries a few banana skins and you'll be right.
What a plic of a job getting the driveshaft out 2day
Didn't damage it in the process but needs replacing
Could be worth looking around for a complete lower unit.
Bugga wel l someone went fishing and someone got amongst the kings... Lost more battles than were won. Heavier gear rquired....
Will give a report when home.. Here is a taste.. Oh, and vern says blue boats catch more than greeen ones
WTF would vern know ???
He cant even zot a pig
I was wondering how you were going Rumpus, hope the rain holds off for you down there.
Needing heavier gear can only be a good sign eh?
