Fishing oz style _ Fishing Reports _ Georges River - 30/07/07 Bream & Trevaly Whoppers

Posted by: Majed Jul 30 2007, 01:33 AM

Hi All,

Had a wonderful day today on the Georges River with a couple of personal records broken.
I went out with my good work mate Christos and enjoyed a really good day out in the water.

Started off around 8:30am this morning with minimal bites until around 11am when we started to get some really good constant bites at SPOT X. We had 2 rods each in the water and were kept very busy.

I got this huge hit on a twenty dollar rod and reel with a 4kg line. I could barely reel it in. I yelled out to Christos that this was a huge fish and get the net. We started to see colour and boy did it look great. Hauled it in. A whopping 44cm beautiful silver bream which weighed approx. 2 kg. What a beauty and the biggest bream i ever caught. You should have seen the beaming smile on my face all day. A delight to catch.

Not long after i got hit again and started to reel it in, but the line snapped. Oh damn.

Christos got a big bite and boy it was fighting hard. He gradually reeled it in and i got the net. A whopping 36cm Trevaly. This was also a record for Christos for this type of fish. Well doen mate. What a great day.

While i was on the phone, i got another hit and reeled it in. A nice 31cm bream. What a beauty, what a day.
There was also lots of Tarwhine to be caught and some whiting.

All up we came home with 4 whopping breams and a beauty of a trevaly, 4 whiting, some 25cm breams and numerous tarwhine. Enjoyed a niice packed lunch and drinks prepared by my beautiful wife.

p.s.. There were 2 other boats around us that didn't seem to catch anything. We were catching heaps due to our bread burleying.

All in all, what can i say, a wonderful day out fishing in glorious sunshine.

Thanks. Majed.

spent 2 days off a pontoon in yowie bay, nothing but small snapper..

Did have a school of large bonito (easily over 50cm) chase a plastic in but they took off as soon as they saw us on the pontoon..

And very nice bream!!! My best is around 40cm, never weighed it!

Sounds like a good days fishing well done it's that time of the yeah when the Studus Maximus Brimus are about & hopefully I'll be out there maybe as early as tomorro little boat is just about completed & looking foward to be fishing again.

I know I harked on you previously to drop down to a lighter line so here's another little tip for ewe
Secret to fishing light line esp if you drop down to 2 or 3 kg like yours truly Bloody Make Sure You Have A Smooth Drag

Noticed you said that you got busted up ! Was that because you tried to tighten up the drag ????????????????

If so you would've gotten a slap on the back of the head i9f you were on my boat thats a no no laugh.gif laugh.gif

CATCH22 got heaps of those slaps when he 1st fished with me but he learnt not to touch the drag you're much better off having the drag set a little on the light side & use your finger on the line to add a bit of lifting power or extra pressure on the fish.

Over the years I've found I tend to have less fish pull the hook 1/2 way into a fight by doing this nothing worse than fighting a fish for 5 minutes then it decides to do the bolt drag to tight hook pulls bye bye fish.

Dont think the :duckwj0: would've been to happy but the blurters/trevally do like bread burley

Yes i actually had a tight drag which i why i lost the second big one. I will gave myself a few uppercuts.

Your right Jumpus, light tackle is much more enjoyable and rewarding. I was using 2 rods which my kids normally use.

God fishing is great.

Tell me Christos what did Majed threaten you with if you didn't say that ???????????

Did he say he was going to leave you on his boat with only catchnrelease as company for a whole day ??? hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Sorry about last night Majed that keyboard was p'ing me off & when I swapped to the other pc the ethernet card was shot so I went to bed.

Yeah leave those drags light seen to many impatient anglers lose good fish because they tightened the drag up, dosen't matter what type of tackle or fish you are targeting if the fish wants to run you let him run he'll tire B4 you do.

When say gamefishing & the the fish has gone for a sreaming run & has peeled off a sh*tload of line 1st thing you do is back off the drag else water pressure will snap the line every time.

You've prob read some of my thoughts on KUNG FU FUSH ?

Well one of the reasons I dont like them is they fight dirty staight over a reef or obstackle which makes it had to land them on light tackle & I dont like to use rope to catch a fish.

Oh yeah forgot tongue.gif

Meant to post this last night do you have a pic resizer ???????

They're whopping big pics you posted must've taken a long time to upload prob why the server was so slow yesterday laugh.gif laugh.gif

Most of the guys here are using a great little prog I gave them to redo their images resize your pics add captions etc but best of all it reduces file size without losing quality for example here's one of the ones you uploaded it's file size 771 kb.

I took a snapshot of it kept the same size pixels as your original 2048 x 1536

But my file size came down to 350 kb

Either way way to big to upload & a bugger for those on dial up to download let me know if you want the prog

Posted by: Majed Jul 31 2007, 05:38 AM

I don't have the pic resizer program..They actually were too large and took a while to upload.

I always seem to use the kids rods more often cause they are more enjoyable to use. I don't like rods with thick tips at all. But a light line is definitely better than the 12 & 15lb lines i was using on some of the rods. The small kids rods only had 4kg lines.

I am everyones hero, not just Christos's.

Hey Majed !

Hope you know that Hero was The Phantoms DOG laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'll pm you a link for the prog

Back to the light line gear dont know your financial situation but if you've got a birthday coming up or xmas isn't to far away hint that a new rod would be appreciated tongue.gif

If you enjoyed fishing with the lighter line then I'll garauntee you'll enjoy it even more with a good qualaty rod you dont have to spend a fortune there's some good ones about @ very good prices

Majed and I go back a little while and when I say to him your my hero, he normally comes back with a get real, or yeah come on, or right!! reply.

When he mention that he was going to post this on the web site I thought of this reply. I had to stop myself from telling him what I was going to post.

Now that is said. We did have a great time and we are still talking about it to the guys at work. I know that some are interested and I know that some are not but that is not stopping us. biggrin.gif
