Fishing oz style _ Fishing Reports _ Sounder

Posted by: STEVE.P May 13 2007, 04:08 AM

took the boat out for a run, as i just put in a new sounder , FURUNO 4100 .
my lowrance was playing up too mutch . Well I tossed in 2 of my flick sticks . Just in case, and went about working out how the thing works after an hr fidlling with settings I headed off the some spots to see if i could pick up fish. fish on the sounder , dropped a soft plastic down , thats all I took. instant hook up some go in it and I called it for a travely, up came a good size trev. I was near some structure.
3 casts later on again another trev. I stayed at this spot for about 2hr's moving around slightly got some throw back reds about 4 then got a 42cm and next cast 38cm. a few mor trev's also.
BUT a new spicies for me on plastic A bloddy black fish.
all up unexpected good little session , and the new sounder works.
sorry no pics didn't have the camera .
cheers
steve

ok furuno 4100 got it at hunts, mark the salesman there , good man. gave it to me for $400.
single 50 or dual 200 thingamebobs full or split screen with zoom on left side screen, bottom lock-zoom temp - SBS and a few other gizmos. :o with ecessories can be plotter gps and some other things , but I didn't go into them dont think i'll need them , SBS is enoghf . laugh.gif good sounder for simple things biggrin.gif
and a decent price this sounder can be repaired . the lowrance x71 can not as its gas sealed and superseeded after only 3 years that iv had it. can't even use it as a sinker.
the furuno sells for $500. plus depending were you go.
Sumary . great little sounder for my type of fishing. smile.gif

fishkiller G/day
lately iv been using 3inch berkly mino's watermelon colour. they look light brown in the water with a purple fleck
if you have seen bait fish they look similar in colour.
diferent situations call for diffeerent size head weights. being in a boat I use as small as possible head this allows it to drift down slow and with a bit of action. being shoar based have to use haevier . to get distance.
usualy 5 / 6 gram head, yarra bay area you can pick up flattys on the beach down in front of the boathouse / resturant all along there, if you have polaroids cast in between patches of weed beds and sand they will be hangin on edge of sand. as for jig metherd short sharp little bersts let it sit 5 sec and repete. you can use your own style tie on plastic flick it out short distance. jig it -wind it- see how the action is, then you know if you wind -jig - or lift it does a certain action, and think to your self if that was jiging past me like that would I eat it. biggrin.gif

Berkly 3in minows $8 pack of 15 any sqidgy heads $6 pack

hope that helps
cheers steve
