Fishing oz style _ Boating Talk _ Boat Trailer

Posted by: nimrod Oct 10 2013, 04:47 PM

Well the old trailer I have been fiddling with over the past 12 months ( nothing get's done in a rush these days ) is just about at an end.

Since this photo I have added a walkway ( not that it should ever have to be used as the trailer is drive on/off ) and finished and fitted my home made boat catch.

This is in capture position.

this is in release position.

Costs me about $8 to make these catches and they work every bit as well as the shop bought catches you pay hundreds of dollars for.
The spring needs replacing about every 3 years but that's about $3 from bunnings.
I have about 6 of these on different boats now and the first one I fitted about 5 years ago is still working perfectly

Looks good Frank, Did you build the full trailer?

No mate. got the trailer from a Fishnet member about 12 months ago.

And have been tinkering with it to get it to this shape. Paint is acrilic car lacquer, Silver metalic with bit of black added.
